Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Plants

Plant physiology like human physiology has gone through dramatic changes in the past few decades. Now we see a great deal of genomic detail and this book is well up to that challenge. The book covers all the classic areas, is well versed in presentations on biochemistry, and also adds a great deal on the genomics in multiple areas. The material is superbly written and illustrated and it is relatively up to date. This is a must for anyone doing plant physiological work. My only faults, and they may be unique ro me, is the lack of discussion on the generation of flower colors and patterning and in the pathological basis of plant lesions.

Edited by an internationally renowned trio of academic scientists, Edition 2 surpasses the high standards set by the first edition. The chapter authors are pre-eminent experts in their field. They not only present the current state of knowledge in clear, well-organized formats, but they have included a profusion of colorful illustrations, including photos, drawings, microgaphs, pathways, charts, graphs, and more. Although the web gives you almost anything at your fingertips, there is still something to be said for textbooks, that present curated information in a very handy format, that delivers information on a focused set of topics (plant biology in this case).

VERY IMPRESSIVE !!! I have had the pleasure of owning many excellent textbooks in my time - but this book takes the cake. I don't even know how the author could have devoted so much time to this. Many excellent chapters, the quality of illustrations and diagrams was SUPERB ... the whole text was thoroughly readable. Plants and Biochem are not my specialty areas, and I expected a tough slog when I started to dig into the material. But this book is well written, and very readable for anyone with a good science background. Other Reviewers have already said it, but I will repeat the advice. This book is the BIBLE for plant biochemistry. Worth every penny that you will pay. Good luck, and special thanks to all of the authors who made such a great textbook!!

The book is everything that it described. I have learned so much and I am only reading for pleasure of the knowledge of plants. The illustration are very clear and informative, they go well will the text. the only problem as with many textbook is the weight, which I know nothing can be done about. the references are also good. I would like to thank all the authors of this text for helping to spread the knowledge that they have obtain to the world. thank you

Me parece muy completo. Quizá carezca un poco sobre las áreas de genética y genómica, pero el libro cumple con su título.

Recibido muy rápido. Un libro de consulta extraordinario. La única pega que podría ponerle es que las tapas son muy blandas. Éso es bueno porque pesa menos, pero malo porque es más fácil que se deteriore.

I am very pleased with this book, which I find excellent. The text and illustrations provide very good information on plant biochemistry, and in a very clear way. It is of great value to me for my studies in plant biology.
