Question 1

work on cats

Accepted Answer

Yes, this works great on long haired cats. We use it to trim around our cat's rear end, and also his ruff. Excellent to keep the fur trimmed and to deal with mats.

Question 2

I have a Malti-Po,half Maltise and poodle. I have never done thesis it easy/ would never want to hurt my dog is it easy to learn?

Accepted Answer

It's actually really easy. It has different guards on it so you don't get two close at first. As long as you can get your dog to sit still and you go slow you shouldn't have any problems.

Question 3

Do these work well on a thick curly coat? My cocker spaniel has been very difficult to groom at home due to clippers not going through his coat.

Accepted Answer

I have a Shih Tzu and her hair gets very long. I am also very familiar with the Cocker Spaniel coat as I have owned one as well. Yes it will work fine. Go slow in the direction of the hair, not against the direction. Keep the blades moderately oiled. Also make sure you detangle any possible knots and brush thoroughly before you cut. You will be fine.

Question 4

Is this a quiet machine? I have not shaved my kitty before and he is 8, I am afraid he will be too scared if it makes a loud noise when it is on.

Accepted Answer

I bought a Wahl hair cutter from a garage sale. I had it for a long tine and would pay $72 to have elderly long hair cat’ s fur trimmed. And thinned. Groomer couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t do it.
I finally thinned all my cats fur, as it’s been so miserably hot. I did it quite a few times with the long hair elderly cat, as I didn’t ever shave them. They all loved it. It was better than getting brushed! Matter of fact, I’m buying a new 1, as the old 1 has had it.
The elderly cat just loves me to trim hair balls on her tummy and the cutter doesn’t cut skin, which is better than scissors. 2 of 3 cats just love the trimming. The other was abused, so I let her be. So much money is saved on grooming.
