Great Product! Recommended
I did a lot of research before deciding for this lantern to take on a camping trip. I have to said this exceeded my expectations. Very good product, great light. It has 3 levels of light, most of the time we used the middle one because the highest one was really bright. It has the convenient handle to hang it to the tent, is light weight; it has a great size and the batteries lasted a long time (5 days camping and never changed the batteries). Recommended!

Decent output, but could have been more refined and protected from the elements.
This is a fairly bright and nice looking lantern, but with a few shortcomings. The plastic is hard and brittle and doesn't feel that great. Since the bottom isn't padded, the unit has a tendency to shift on smooth surfaces, especially if it's not on level ground. This lantern also uses 4 D cells. While D cells have traditionally been common in lanterns, I wish this used a different format. I have several battery chargers, but none charge a D cell (although they are available, they are not common). So this means buying throw away D cells in order to use this lantern. I would gladly pay a bit extra if this lantern came with a lithium ion rechargeable battery. Or took a whole bunch of AAAs that are more common as rechargeables. Those batteries should be powerful enough to light up this efficient LED bulb. There are D cell adapters that take AA batteries, so that might be a workaround. The other issue is with the battery compartment. While this unit is touted as weather resistant, there are no seals around the compartment. Even if water would not get in (but I fear that it might in a heavy downpour), there is a high risk that the electrical contacts would oxidize from the moisture of even everyday use outdoors.

GE Enbrighten LED lantern (Red)
It appears that this lamp will be useful in the event that we lose electricity, i like the 3 settings, and brighter than i thought! My niece in Hawaii recommended it to me, as they live on the black lava and did not have electricity for awhile, now they have solar panels, but she said this is a great lamp, she can even put her makeup on with it!Thanks, sort of a vicarious rating, as i looked at many of the GE lanterns on Amazon, but with such rave reviews from my niece, i know it must be for real, so, i'm glad we got it, and the price was right, as well! Thanks Amazon!

If it's anything like the last GE lantern I bought
If it's anything like the last GE lantern I bought, with an LED light bulb, don't buy it. The bulbs are no longer available and it has only been 5 years since my purchase and I only use the lantern during power outages. $30 something just wasted.

Let there be light.
Living in a hurricane zone means losing power occasionally. This lantern is a good thing to have on hand. I appreciate the three different light strengths...the top one is a bit too bright for prolonged use, though. I imagine it would really come in handy while camping.

Works great! Really bright
Works great! Really bright, but I wished it came with a usb port like other models I've seen like this. All in all though its a great lantern!
