OM SYSTEM Olympus CLA-T01 Conversion Lens Adapter for TG-Series Cameras

It fits perfectly and adds a nice red accent to my black TG-7. Mine came with a free Olympus lens cap. Regarding the complaints about it being made of plastic and breaking when it's hit hard, that's by design. You can see cut outs around the rim that provide weak points so the ~$20 adapter ring breaks in a fall instead of the bayonet mount in the camera. Don't buy a 3rd party metal adapter or you may regret it. I found this out in Thomas Eisl's YouTube channel and Expert Guide book for the TG-7. Thomas also recommends using a UV filter at all times when you're not using other filters to protect the lens from accidental scratches and while shooting in harsh conditions.

There is an all black 3rd party knock-off of this product available, and I own both (purchased through Amazon.com). I use them with my Olympus TG-3, with telephoto and fisheye conversion lenses. In addition, I have one attached to a 40.5mm B+W circular polarizer and lens hood (to prevent lens flare), and a fourth attached to a 40.5mm UV filter (which I use primarily for lens protection when I don't have one of the other attachments on the camera. I have two of these Olympus CLA-T01 adapters, and two of the of JJC RN-T01 adapters. They both work fine for attaching accessories to cameras that are compatible with these attachments (Olympus TG-1, TG-2, TG-3). I prefer the red banded OEM product, only because is has a more solid click into the detent. The JJC product's detent tab is not as long, so it can come off the camera more easily. For this reason, I use the OEM adapters on my two expensive attachment lenses (the TCON-T01 Teleconverter & the FCON-T01 Fisheye converter). The OEM product is currently 39% more expensive ($18 vs $11), but for me the more solid connection is worth the cost difference. I may eventually replace my two JJC adapters with two more Olympus adapters. A straight hood is the appropriate hood to use on a telephoto adapter, as no vignetting will occur. As a final note: Having a lens hood attached to your circular polarizer makes it far easier to rotate the filter (especially without accidentally smudging the filter with fingerprints while blindly reaching for it)!

My story I bought the TG-6 so I may put the UV filter on the camera. I also have a CPL filter on the camera. The Olympus CLA-T01 is a converter to attach 40.5mm lens. Be aware what thread you're purchasing. Why did Olympus create a camera where the lens is not protected? I don't know but I like my lens protected. PRO: It fits the TG-6 It snaps on easily Easy removal - push the silver button and turn Lens cap is included Can be used underwater - Do NOT have extra filters/lens on camera when underwater. CON: Not originally included with camera - not the converters issue but the manufacturers problem. Summary: Ultimately, it is not necessary or required for your camera. However, if you purchased it and you don't use extra filters, you can use it for the lens cap. When you are on the beach, the sand or water will get between the converter and the filters because the filters are not waterproof.

I love many things about this camera. I'm actually a "real" pro photographer who shoots all Canon pro equipment. I heard about this camera on a pod cast and was very excited from the get go. I was looking at many smaller options to travel with or as recreational usage. A nice alternative to carrying my DSLR and its accessories. I even looked at the micro 4:3 cameras because of the compact size and lens options. Then the TG-1 was announced. This was a no brainer as long as the image quality was good. Which it is... It works great underwater so far. I'm going to Hawaii next week and can't wait to shoot it in the ocean while snorkeling. The under water video footage looks almost better than the stills. I'm so excited to travel light in the camera department. The only thing that really bums me out is that I have been waiting for the teleconverter lens since the release of the camera. It's still on back order and I won't have it for my trip next week which was my major deciding factor in buying this actual camera. It's a good thing I bought the fish eye and adaptor ASAP! But now I won't be shooting any nice portraits with a compressed blurred out background because Olympus dropped the ball on the accessories dept. Not good! Don't release waterproof stuff at the end of summer... I know that all of the main pro shops here in the bay area stopped carrying Olympus because they ALL said "Olympus stopped releasing anything good". When this camera came out the big proshop in Palo Alto CA. finally broke down and started selling it due to the high demand. Now that everyone is waiting for the accessories to be available again or even released. They have already grown tired of waiting for Olympus to catch up again....Otherwise as a point and shoot the camera is pretty cool. User features are awesome and abundant. The fish eye lens looks cool but doesn't seem to be a true fish eye but more of a "wide angle" look. Probably won't actually buy the zoom lens now either. If you are looking for a underwater camera and don't need the additional lenses there are some cheaper options with probably better image quality.

Nice construction with a very positive feeling when locked. And it comes with a proper Olympus cap/cover that is probably half as thick as the popular aftermarket choices on Amazon. There is no tether included though.

I'm loving the lens cap! I'm also looking forward to getting a couple lenses, thanks to this handy ring. Yes, it does fit the TG7 perfectly. You just need to remove the original ring first.

I use this product for what it does, accomodate different lenses that can be screwed onto this ring. This item was a replacement for one I broke in a near disasterous motorcycle wreck. I had my Olympus camera in a zip up holster on my belt and landed directly on it when I came off the bike onto the pavement. When I got around to opening the holster almost a month later, broken pieces and glass came out with the camera. It did not surprise me but also disappointed me. I love that camera and I thought it was toast. I finally got around to doing a closer examination to discover that the glass was from the broken neutral density filter and the rest of the broken pieces was lens converter ring (this item). The camera itself was undamaged. The Olympus tough group cameras are amazingly durable in extreme conditions and this lens ring provides extra protection. That's the back story and that is how I came to be purchasing this item. I highly recommend the camera fitted with this lens ring.

This is a well-made little adapter, with excellent fit and finish. Unfortunately (and this is a fault of the camera's design, not the adapter's, really), Olympus made it so that one of the slots that this adapter goes into is bigger than all of the others; this means a lot of fiddling around trying to get the adapter on when you're wanting to take a shot or switch filter setups. that's a major problem, and a 1-star ding. The other 1-star ding is that the lens cap provided with this adapter has no leash, and nowhere to easily put one on. So I lost my lens cap almost immediately, and that cap was one of the main reasons to have this product. For a tough camera that's coming in and out of pockets all the time and will be used on rough trails, water, etc... a lens cap leash just makes sense. That said, it's a really useful item to have on the camera - protects the lens, even without a filter on, and allows you to mount UV, neutral density, polarizing filters and more, plus telephoto and fisheye adapters. It is well made, and doesn't seem to interfere with getting the camera into and out of my pockets, which was an initial concern for me that has not come true. I highly recommend it despite its imperfections.

I have the red version of the TG6 so this matches very well, and it comes with a lens cap so i feel happy now about throwing my Tough in my backpack with fear of damage to the otherwise exposed lens, otherwise the weak point of this "tough" camera' . Really it should have come with this built in. Now i can, if i want add filters and lenses. I didnt buy the alternative that comes with a blade shutter as that was just more to go wrong. FWIW since ive seen comments to the contrary this doesnt affect the watertightness of the camera at all as can be seen from the fact that olympus sell add on underwater lenses with exactly the same adapter ring as this (Literally the same). Its just a ring that has a thread which will accept filters, extra lenses etc.

Assolutamente fondamentale per la fotocamera. Io lo adopero sulla macchina Olympus tg3, perfetto per montare filtri o anche solamente tappo per proteggere l'obbiettivo.

Está bien hecho y permite adaptar a la cámara una tapita estándar, filtros y las (pequeñas) ópticas. Es carete, pero desde mi punto de vista, merece la pena.

Si vous voulez un cache pour Olympus TG-5, il n'y en a pas de commercialisé (j'ai vérifié au près d'Olympus). Par contre, si vous mettez cette adaptateur à la place de la bague d'origine, il y a un cache Olympus avec (qu'on peut remplacer par un générique pour 40.5 mm si vous en voulez avec un trou et un petit fil pour le tenir à la dragonne, car celui Olympus est joli mais sans attache, donc pas pratique quand on retire le cache, car on peut le perdre, par contre le générique ne peut pas être mis directement sur la bague d'origine). Donc si vous laissez l'adaptateur en permanence à la place de la bague vous pouvez enfin avoir un cache objectif sur votre TG5. Autrement, bien faire attention au repère blanc, il y a le même sur l'appareil photo pour vous indiquer (quand on a appuyé sur le bouton unlock) où commencer à mettre la bague avant de tourner et de lâcher le bouton unlock une fois la bague en place. Ce repère permet de mettre rapidement l'adaptateur. Cet adaptateur vous permet de visser le téléconvertisseur TCON-T01 (ça me permet d'avoir un zoom optique plus fort) ou bien le convertisseur FCON-T01 (pour avoir un effet fish-eye, l'image a un effet arrondi). Je l'ai testé avec le TCON-T01 (après avoir bien sur retiré la bague d'origine sur mon TG5 avec le bouton unlock) - pour information le TCON-T01 est fourni avec le même cache objectif (pour l'extérieur, sinon il en a un autre à l'intérieur) que le CLA-T01. La bague est très fine et fragile, j'ai d'abord essayé de mettre en place l'adaptateur sur le TCON-T01 avant de mettre le CLA-T01 sur le TG5 (mais vous pouvez bien sur mettre le CLA-T01 directement sur le TG5 avant de visser dessus le TCON-T01, je voulais juste vérifier comment ça fonctionne pour éviter de faire des bêtises ;) ). Après j'ai dévissé le TCON-T01 doucement, puis je me suis entraînée à le remettre, en tenant bien droit l'appareil photo (vue de côté) devant moi pour regarder comment se vissait le TCON-T01 sur le CLA-T01. Bien faire attention à ce que le téléconvertisseur soit droit dès le départ sur l'adaptateur afin de tourner proprement et de ne pas casser le pas de vis si vous forcez (ou même l'adaptateur lui même comme il est fin) car si on ne fait pas attention il a tendance à partir de travers dès le départ (et si vous arrivez à le faire tenir de travers, il risque de tomber de toute façon). Après l'avoir fait 2-3 fois, j'ai pu le remonter par la suite facilement du premier coup. Je vous conseille aussi de vous entraîner, ça ne fait pas de mal et ça vous permettra aussi d'être à l'aise avec et de ne pas casser l'adaptateur.
