I bought two of these to use as letter holders. A typical letter holder has a short front that slopes outward, so the contents always curl down like wilting tulips. But these file holders are a superior solution: the front is truly vertical. The front is also taller than any letter holder, to keep the contents tucked inside. In fact, the front of these file holders is taller than that of every other file holder for sale here -- so it is the best for holding everything in place. This file holder is also wide enough, so you can sort the contents horizontally into two separate bunches, based on date, priority, whatever. Perfect eh?Alas, order fulfillment was initially a problem... The manufacturer's package has a tag that clearly states, "Mandatory! This box must be shipped in an extra shipping box for protection of the contents." (see the attached photo) However, Amazon shipped them to me in a flimsy plastic bag, something more suitable for a loaf of bread ...not even with embedded bubble cushioning. And so one of my file holders arrived cracked. It's no surprise, other reviewers who have complained about the same problem. The other file holder arrived all scuffed up, and the original package was tattered ...Ostensibly this one had been shipped out multiple times, AND returned multiple times by preceding customers. (I don't understand the business practice of trying to dump battered goods on the next sucker/customer.)NOW AN UPDATE: fingers crossed, I ordered replacements. This time, Amazon did overbox the file holders, and they arrived in great condition. These are, all the more, the ideal alternative to a typical letter holder.

This is easy to install, looks neat and clean hanging on the wall. It fits 8 1/2" x 11" paper nicely. We use it to hold and display work assignments and schedules. The assignments and schedules are always being updated, removed and replaced. We used this to replace a sheet protector taped to the wall that looked really shabby. It looks very professional now, and the papers are easier to remove and replace.

True to size, as it holds 8 1/2 x 11 paper, perfectly. I use this in my RV to put handouts and maps and it stays stuck on the wall with command strips. The plastic is very durable and clear and super sturdy. An excellent by. I highly recommend.

I hung inside by my back door so as I take the doggie door cover off and on a few times each day and having the doggie door look attractive and being close at hand is important to me. My doggie door is not real big so measure yours first if you want to use this item for this purpose. OF course it would be great for inside paper items too!

We are living in a senior independent living apartment. I have this on the wall right inside the door with our meds list, health care directive, etc. for the EMTs in case of an emergency. It works great!

It looks great both mounted on my wall and standing on my bookshelf.

When I'm not there to receive any paperwork, it is easy for someone just to drop and go. Also, since it is vertical, it fits perfectly by my office door.

Product width narrows inside, which means I can't use it for my Boogieboard.

Just what was needed

I actually use this to hold my recipes. It has enough space to hold even a weeks worth of recipes. It holds the standard letter size paper perfectly and provides me with a clear view of my recipe and protects my recipe from any type of splatter or stains. Nice and compact too to easy to store away when not using. :)

To hold manuals on the side of equipment, this pocket file worked out very well for me because it's a good size for that and good quality build.

I hang it inside our medical clinic to hold requisition forms (just right for the size) and it looks visually appealing. Aside from that, it is easy to install.
