More tool than jewellery.
Straight out the box 1st impression; phat, chunky, unfinished. 1 month EDC later; I love this knife. It'll take a little time on your part to make this thing yours... A few hours with a fine needle file to take the harshness out... I'm not good at sharpening knives but I got this scalpel sharp with very little effort. It takes me both hands to open. Once open there is zero blade movement, the slip joint action is very heavy and very positive. It's a great tool and I'm getting on with it. You might not be able to open this with one hand but closed, It fits very comfortably in a clenched fist and I, personally, wouldn't want a poke with the lanyard hole tag thing at the bottom of the handle. No, it's not finished. But it's perfectly rough.

Great Quality High Carbon Steel Carry Legal
Brilliant metal quality, people complaining about it rusting clearly don't understand that this is HIGH CARBON STEEL! not Stainless! It needs little care, keep it dry, I avoid cutting acidic fruits, and I oil to protect from oxidization (olive oil can work but even a bit of grease from behind your ear or similar will work in a pinch), holds an edge well, can cut through softer metals with ease (I've fixed car wires with this on the fly). Thick spine can stand some abuse for batoning fire wood and the metal tip on the base would make a great glass breaker. It's a little tricky to open and close, WHICH IS A GOOD THING! This wont accidentally open in your pocket, and it wont slip easily once open, which is great for a non locking knife. My only real complaint is the handle is a little small for me (and I don't have large hands), understandable with it being a carry legal, the restrictions may limit handles with folding blades. But it's just a little small for me so a little uncomfortable when I need a really secure grip during certain tasks Overall one of the best Carry Legals for the price.

Excellent Value -Especially with a Little Personal Attention.
This knife needed some fettling to smooth some edges and make it more comfortable to hold. A few minutes work with different grits rounded the spike-like handle base, and left the whole knife smooth in the hand and easier to work with, without irritation. I appreciate that at this price such hand finishing would put this excellent knife into another bracket, so am very happy with it. Its excellent and very sharp carbon steel blade makes it of course. An additional nail slot for left handed users would enhance its appeal. My four star ratings reflect "as is", and because of my point about time spent in finishing. Otherwise they too would be five.

It looks second hand
It honestly looks like itโs been working in a foundry for the past 3 years. Spots of rust and the black stuff on blade not straight. Covered in oil as a desperate attempt to solve the rusting. I would laugh if I had ยฃ30 spare.

Great quality.
Knife looks awesome. The knife came razor sharp and with a great leather sheath. The hinge was a little rough at the start but after a few times opening and closing it smoothened out. The knife also had a slight difference in colour on either side, nothing excessive but surely noticeable. The blade is strong and the finish looks vintage but not old. I would highly recommend this knife to anyone who likes to collect knives or to use in day to day chores.

Poor Finish
The knife has a poor finish to the blade and can be very difficult to open. My knife arrived sharpened but will require a little work to make it sharp enough to use.

Unfinished blunt blade
Delivery two days. As in other reviews found the upper section of the blade unfinished and rough black coated. This can be polished out. The open blade is 2.5 inches long and not very sharp out of the box. The knife looks solid and well built. The wood? handle fits my medium sized hand a little tight but ok. Equipped with leather pouch. Why does Perkin allows this knife to be sold with unfinished blade and damage their reputation for quality? Will put a sharp edge on blade but this should be sharper as sold. Not impressed JR
