Dairy is expensive - try this stuff.
I am a very picky eater. It started at the age of 1 1/2 to 2 years, I never grew out of it. That being said, the Red Cow Full Cream Milk Powder is an excellent replacement for fresh dairy. It's shelf stable, you only refrigerate leftovers. Has all the characteristics required for baking or cooking with milk as an ingredient. The only thing I haven't mastered are puddings in the J box. For some reason, it's not as simple as adjusting the liquid measure, which is water, after making sure I incorporate the two powders (J boxed powder and Red Cow Full Cream Milk Powder together. It turns out runny, or turns into gummy paste. Blech. The hard for me to master J box puddings are the cook and serve. Instant puddings don't have the same issues. I use a hand mixer, or my food processor. Either works. Although the food processor is faster and powers through lumpy liquids, making them smooooooth. (lol) Overall, in spite of the J box mishap, this product works a treat. If you are trying to save money, like I am, by reducing the amount of food I end up throwing away, I have an empty milk jug that sits by and waits to be filled half full of store bought, liquid milk. It doesn't matter whether it's full fat, 2%, fat free, or any milk substitute. To start, using the recipe recommended on the can, 1:1 ratio of milk powder and lukewarm water. It will be lumpy, but the more vigorous the stirring, and a pass through a sieve to get the teeny tiny little lumps, you'll have a cheaper milk product in your fridge. The milk powder also works well straight out of the can as a dairy creamer for coffee or tea. The powder likes warm to the touch water. It will be lumpy in cool, cold water, and performs the same in water that is too hot. Yes, I get lumps in my coffee and tea, but they will dissolve as the temperature drops in your cup. Cooking with Red Cow Full Cream Milk Powder is easy peasy, add the powder to your dry ingredients and mix well. Too well. You can't over-mix at this stage. Add water to the liquid(s) used in your recipe, calculated from the amount of powder added to the dry ingredients. I sieve the liquid directly into the dry ingredients. Mash out the most egregious lumps, passing it through a second time with liquid reserved for this purpose. It's not really necessary, as I haven't had any lumpy gravy or cream sauces using Red Cow Full Cream Milk Powder, but I do it anyway. As for taste. It tastes like milk. I have never been a milk drinker, but I do eat cereal. There is a slight flavour I can't pinpoint, but it's not bad. Disappears if dividing and adding to your milk percentage of choice. Also, much better tasti ng when icy cold. My daughter puts her smaller 1/2 gallon container in the freezer, partially icing up the container. She said she can't tell the difference. And there you have it. A very satisfied customer, indeed!!

great for dry mixes
I love working with this product. I make my own dry mixes and this is so much cheaper and tastes a thousand times better than the grocery store versions. I dont get the skim milk taste in my cooking like I would if I used the powered milk from the grocery store. I have reordered this several times and usually make sure I have at least one can in reserve in the pantry. Once opened I store it in quart mason jars with a vacuum seal.

Red Cow...WOW!
Absolutely LOVE this milk! I don't drink milk like most people. I will only consume it in cereals and bake goods and OMG, it is the best milk. It's wonderful for cooking and baking. I never thought I would love my breads, cereal, dry ingredient pantry meals more until I used this milk powder over the other. I don't want to run out. For a richer taste I add extra table spoons over the recommended directions. I let it sit in the refrigerator for 24 hours and shake the container occasionally. There is no grainy consistency or after taste...and WOW. Excellent quality in my book and worth every penny. ๐

Perfect for morning lattes.
I love this product for my morning lattes. It tastes better than fresh milk in my opinion. Just add a scoop powder directly to your hot beverage of choice. I use a hand frother to mix it up -- no need to heat up milk. It's also nice to have on hand for baking, soups, etc -- it's the perfect milk replacement. (One note of caution, I must have accidentally ordered the wrong size this last time... Imagine my surprise when a 5.5 lb can arrived on my porch. Oh well, I'll use it up.)

YUM! Great quantity, great tasting milk, much much better than the low fat dried milk products. I will reorder when needed again.

Creamier than all the rest!
I've tried several powdered milk products - including Nestle's Nido product. Red Cow is the best-tasting of the bunch. It's creamier. So, why didn't I give it five stars? Well... because it still tastes like powdered milk. All powdered milk products I've tried have that powdered milk taste. But Red Cow isn't quite as bad as others. This is a great product to have in your pantry.

Wow -- a totally drinkable whole-milk, powdered, long shelf life, easy to mix with tepid water.
Let's just say that as a kid there were many occasions to drink powerdered milk. Let me say that if Red Cow Full Cream Milk Powder is what I was drinking -- it would have been a little slice of heaven. Red Cow milk is really good. Nothing tasts quite like the real thing, but this isn't far from it, and the shelf life means you will have an ability to reconstitute what you need when you need it. I
