Kinda big but has a nice long cord
This surge protector is kind of big but it is useful and appears to be very sturdy. I purchased 5 of them to replace my older radio shack surge protectors in case there bad. I will probably order more. A couple of reviews back a customer stated it can be hard to put the plug into the socks of the surge protector and they are right. If you are going to plug it and forget it, this is a good protector for you but if it will have heavy traffic then I would suggest going with another one that is easier to plug and unplug devices. My dollars were draw to this protector because the outlets are not horizontal which made my day! Not sure why anyone would make surge protectors with horizontal plugs when most devices have larger plugs these days.

Great outlet layout
There isn't much to say for a surge protector review, but this strip has a couple features that set it apart from other low price competitors. The biggest advantage is the layout of the plugs on the strip itself. They are 90 deg different that most (look closely at the product pic). This allows you to plug oblong objects in and only take up one spot, or at the very least two. There are many times when I have plugged a big square charger into a regular strip and it covers 2 1/2 outlets because it is longer than it is wide. A prime example is my iPad charger. It is thin enough to only take one spot width wise, but it is long, so on a normal charger it covers 2 outlets, on this one it only takes one spot. I have this mounted to the back of a theater cabinet I have all my devices in. It runs horizontal across the top so I can reach back and unplug any charges I might need to take with me, again the layout of the plugs make horizontal mounting more convenient when you have awkward sized chargers. Additionally this charger does offer one outlet that is spaced appropriately for those really big plugs. While I couldn't use all 7 outlets, I was able to plug in 6 devices into this outlet, a feat I couldn't do with my other strip. Also the right angle plug is a great plus. It's slim and hugs the wall, but it angles enough that it can be plugged in next to another plug without it covering the adjacent outlet.I can't comment on the surge abilities, but honestly I imagine it will perform just as well as any protector priced under $15. I have all my sensitive electronics (NAS, TV, Stereo, Router) on a much more capable surge protecter and power cleaner. But for 7 extra outlets the V7 surge protector is a great buy!

Excellent value at $10
I bought this strip because of the way the power sockets were oriented. They are rotated 90 degrees as compared to most power strips. This orientation makes more sense to me. I opened up the unit to inspect it, and the guts are pretty much the same as most surge-protection power strips. The surge protection is surprisingly good for $10, there are 4 MOV's, a polyfuse, a thermal breaker, and one X (across the line) capacitor. The polyfuse acts as a circuit breaker in case of over current, it automatically resets after a few minutes. In this application, a polyfuse is nicer than a circuit breaker because the polyfuse resets itself, where a circuit breaker has to be manually reset. This can make a big difference if the power strip is tucked away in a hard to get at location, or is used by someone who may not know about circuit breakers. The thermal fuse trips if the MOV's get hot (which happen in a surge condition). The thermal fuse cannot be reset once it trips, you should throw the strip away in that case. This is the same for any surge protector with a thermal fuse, and I think the thermal fuse may even be required by law in MOV-based surge protectors to prevent fire. The MOV's and fuses are wrapped in heat-resistant Polyimide tape, unusual for a $10 strip. As for the EFI/RFI protection, I think that's "marketing talk" as one line cap is not considered to be very effective EFI/RFI suppression. But that's ok for $10.The wall plug is one of those flat types and rotated about 45 degrees so it doesn't block the other socket in a typical wall outlet. There are also four "slide to lock" mounting holes on the back of the strip to allow it to be mounted to the wall/desk.

No emi filter.
I have a charger that won't accept electrical noise. I bought this because it claimed to have an emi filter in it. The charger still won't work through this power strip. It seems to work fine as a power strip, but that isn't exactly a spectacular feat.

Good price for decent surge protector
I read a lot of reviews while picking out a new surge protector. I needed one that I can relay on to work as our last one got fried after it took a surge but it protected our equipment.I liked this one as its a little bit bigger so you have more room with the plugs and it was easier to plug into and unplug from. It has an indicator light on if it the surge protector is on or not. With this one if the surge protector gets messed up the light will come on but power will be continued to be delivered. So this is a nice feature. So far everything seems great and I would buy this again

The lights are dim and not annoying like many new protectors
This is a surge protector. Nothing more. The one item going for it is the fact the the light indicators are not as bright as the sun. The lights are dim and not annoying like many new protectors. For the price, a good value.

Great!
I spent a lot of time searching for a good surge protector to replace my current ones with. I read a lot of reviews and settled on this one. Like most others I have not experienced any power surges yet (and I hope I never do), but the size of the plug, length of cord, and style of the outlets are great. It does not make any noise when plugged in and the flat, angled plug made it easy to plug it in behind my dresser. The only issue is I would recommend plugging it into the bottom outlet. If you plug it into the top it's not angled enough to keep the bottom outlet open. Other than that it's perfect.
