The plugs work brilliantly, synced perfectly with Alexa and ‘do exactly what they say on the tin’. Great value for money. See below for installation work-around.A simple installation trick though - the plugs only set up on a 2.4ghz WiFi setting. Rather than faffing splitting your broadband channels - take the plugs to the furthest point in your house from your broadband router (ideally with a few walls between you and the router, or even if you nip into the garden with an extension socket) then plug them in and you should automatically be on the 2.4ghz channel (as 2.4ghz has longer coverage than 5ghz) to set up through the app. Once you’ve set the plugs up you can plug them in wherever, but they have to be set up on the 2.4ghz channel.

Honestly, I could not set it up properly. Me and my flatmate are studying Computer Science and yet both of us were unable to make it pair with the app. Given that, the socket is pretty much useless, apart form the physical power button... We tried setting it up both automatically and manually, following the instructions in the print out. However, the iOS version of the app that was suggested to download had different options than the ones listed in the instructions, so these were pretty useless...Add more instructions online! If the app changed, users should have been notified how to use the product regardless...

These timers are great for being able to set a light to come on and off - either to greet you when you come home / downstairs or to deter burglars. Would also work with other plug in appliances.They are small and unobtrusive.The app that you use to set the timer is very good. You can set multiple on / off routines and can have different routines for each day if you want (or just set it to 'every day'). You can also use the app to over-ride the timer and turn it on or off.The only downside are the instructions - setting up the first one took ages. First problem is to work out which device it is from the long list of options. Then trying to follow the instructions is a nightmare. They really need to get someone who can actually speak English to translate them.But once set up (if you manage not to throw it in the bin in frustration) they are great.

I ordered two of these smart plugs for my Christmas lights as they were a good price compared to some others. They were delivered very quickly. Not too easy to set up, poor instruction leaflet included, but got there eventually. I like the compact size, they fit the switch plate very well, but a poor design feature is the illuminated switch on the bottom of the plug. I couldn't see whether the light was steady or flashing without getting down on the floor so that I could see the underneath of the plug. Would have been much better if the switch was placed on the top of the plug. I tried the suggested Tuya Smart app, but could not get it to integrate with Google Home, so ended up using Smart Life instead (I still don't understand why these two apps exist when they are virtually identical!). Once set up, they do what they are supposed to. I have set up a schedule and it's working OK, but it's a bit of a chore to set up (no option to select "every day", you have to select each day individually, and repeat for every on or off required). Laughably, I had a notification this morning that my "Scheduled Task Successed" which doesn't fill me with confidence. I hope that these plugs will still be functional in a year's time, but even if not, for the price, they are a good introduction to smart plugs.

Only been using it an hour, but it was easy and logical to pair (using the TuyaSmart app), just make sure it connects to the 2.4GHz signal of your router, not the 5GHz one. They’re usually listed on your WiFi as 2.4 and 5. Paired fine and able to use it easily. It pairs quickly when you take it out of the socket and put it in a different socket. Overall it seems well worth the money. Oh, and it works when you’re out and about on mobile network, not just on your home WiFi. So that’s a bonus.

The plug works perfectly for the intended use - switching off/on my Christmas tree lights via an Echo dot. Yay!I read a few reviews before purchasing, several mentioned that it was tricky to install. I have to say I din't encounter any such issues.I set it up on an Android phone. I download and used the Smart Life app as opposed to the Tuya one.For the initial setup I used an easily accessible power socket close to the router, once functional I repositioned it in the intended socket .The location of the setup button of the smart plug is on the bottom of it, not ideal as it's difficult to see the staus LED, especially if the power socket is low on a wall.

Three of the Four I ordered worked after installing, but only for about three days. After this initial period they failed to connect to the server meaning we had to manually switch the plugs on and off. You also have to install a stupid application for them to work. Sending them back. I would also like to mention that the plugs and manual seem to have already been used on arrival, so possible customer return. Not happy. Wouldn't recommend these, or other plugs that are the same but rebranded.

Easy set up as advertised and now controls a tabletop lamp in our lounge. Yes, one could get by by using the lamp switch but that involves getting off the settee lol. In any case I can now shout orders at this device which is the only thing that obeys them in my house!
