It was in small lumps instead of being a smooth powder. Never opened it but had an odor.

Real butter flavor
I use butter powder to shake over my homemade popcorn. I put the popcorn in a huge bowl with a lid that has a small amount of olive oil or melted butter and shake it all around to coat the popcorn with the oil, then add this powdered butter and shake it all around again. The small amount of oil allows the powdered butter to stick to the popcorn better and the popcorn doesn't come out oily.
