Cheap and effective
I got this mostly for looks as I plan to use a rifle for a show I am filming and I wanted to have spares on the stock for added effect. (Rifle will fire blanks for the show). I was a little hesitant to buy it as the rifle is actually chambered in .223 but as it is television I planned to slap a larger round in this holder because the audience won't be able to tell (Remington 700, they all look basically the same.) Well I got it and just out of curiosity I slapped some .223 in it and they fit perfectly. As this is a real functioning rifle that I actually shoot privately I was quite pleased to see that even this small round will stay in place. The .308 rounds also fit in it very well as do 6.5MM Carcano rounds. (I haven't decided which I want to use for the production, leaning towards the .308 since the rifle can actually be chambered for that.)As for the fit, it was a bit of a struggle to get it on but that was mostly because I didn't feel like removing the scope and sliding it down the barrel and over the action which I would imagine would be way easier than what I did. I slid it on over the back of the stock and it worked out well but it took a few minutes to get it in place. It fits snug and actually form fit to the shape of the stock so you don't lose anything. It is also really easy to retrieve rounds from. The .223 are a little small but they don't fall out and they are still easy to get a grip on.This thing may only cost a few bucks but it is probably the best you could ever ask for.

Very useful
The allen company rifle cartridge holder is an awesome addition to any rifle. I bought many of this allen company brand cartridge holders for several of my rifles. I currently have it on a Winchester model 94 30-30 lever action, mosin nagant, and my Winchester 300 wsm. Being that I use it universally with most of my rifles I didn't expect a perfect fit but they fit wonderfully. The fact that it holds 9 rounds, can be turned and used ambidextrously, and is cheap makes this one of the best additions to a rifle that doesn't hold a lot of ammo like my 300 wsm or any rifle. I can store 3 rounds in my 300 wsm rifle but with the cartridge holder I can now have 9 + 3 which makes a big difference. Awesome product and I recommend it to everyone.

Will do the job!
Bought these to carry additional rounds, rather than a box, belt or sling with provision for such. The fit is very tight. It was put on the stock of a new Ruger American .30-06 with synthetic stock. It was hard to get on, but once on, it does tend to slide toward the bolt, which hinders it from sliding all the way back or removing bolt. I'm going to sew a little Velcro strap across the back of it to hold it toward the rear of the stock. I think that will solve the problem. These would actually be nicer if they were adjustable somehow, but then it would be a different product! I had the need to insert a bit of foam to raise my cheek higher to line up my eye with the mounted scope. I used a piece of foam pipe insulation cut to about an inch and a half and slid it under the elastic. It was really tight, but gives enough elevation increase to accomplish my need to raise line of site through the scope. All in all, it's a snug fit and will definitely stay in place. It is a little loose at the front end and I may need to trim a little off the back end so it does not bunch up at the rear sling mount. For the price, it will work! With a little personal modification it beats buying one for over $20, and accomplishes the same thing. The slots for bullets are a perfect fit for .30-06 rounds.

Lots of silly negative reviews/comments on a good product. Read reviews and decide for yourself.
I read the reviews on an item here before buying and was initially worried when I saw how many negatives this holder had. Then I read the negatives. Most of the negatives are Amazon classifying 3 stars (it's okay) as a negative when the reviewers simply meant that it does what it's supposed to do.One reviewer didn't like that he ordered a rifle cartridge holder that wouldn't hold shotgun shells? Oh, say it ain't so!Another didn't fit on his arm the way he wanted? Kinda makes one wonder about the reviewers other wardrobe choices.Another threw theirs away because he worried it may give him cancer? Unless he's planning on eating , smoking, or using some other way of introducing it into his body, I think he'd have been ok... at the very least return it instead of throwing it away. After sifting through these I found the most common negative comment was that the elastic holder slipped sometimes (or a lot) after firing. As this is a common malady of these types of holders, I decided to risk ordering one.Glad I did. I got it for a Circuit Judge and it fits perfectly. For added security I removed the buttstock sling point and reattached it through the holder. For my purposes, it holds 410 shells perfectly. For the price point, it can't be beat.

GOOD QUALITY
I have been using one on my hunting rifle for several years now. I end up replacing them every 3-4 years when they start to get old and lose their elasticity. Works well for my application and no issues. I do modify mine slightly. Some people have commented that it creeps up on the stock a bit. I noticed it the first year I carried it hunting that my synthetic stock rifle with smooth buttstock was allowing it to creep up slightly or turn slightly. I use it with a sling so when I got back to camp that first day I fixed the problem. Everyone in my camp has done this since. I use a sling and my sling mount is covered in the last inch of the shell holder where I want it to stay. I marked where the sling mount would go through the fabric and removed the shell holder and the sling mount. I put a chunk of wood inside the shell holder for a backstop to push against. I put a spent 243(?) EMPTY casing in a pair of vice grips at the base and heated the neck mouth. Then just like melting nylon rope, I centered the hole over my marked spot and pushed/melted a hole for my sling mount. Put it all back together and it doesn't twist or creep up the stock while hunting or going through the brush. Don't have to readjust it all season.

As Advertised
Ammo holder worked well. It fit well on the stock of my Browning A-Bolt 30.06. It was tough to get it on but that is okay because that results in a tight fit. I haven't used it in the field yet but I expect it will hold up well. I have a similar one on my Browning X-Bolt .270 and it has served me well. Nice to buy something made in the USA even though I live in Canada.

Nice For the Price
Not much to say here.It is well made, and gets the job done. Similar to the shotgun one in that it is not quite elastic enough to bounce back fully from stretching it over the stock and thus the end nearest to the handgrip ends up deformed and sort of bulging out.Rounds are held nice and secure.I'd buy another one from this company if I needed one; especially if for a bush gun that is going to see some rough work and you don't want to buy accessories that const an arm and leg because of it.

... for my 7mm Rem Mag (Remmington 770) fit very nicely, they will not fall out in the field
Bullets for my 7mm Rem Mag (Remmington 770) fit very nicely, they will not fall out in the field. I had to burn a hole to allow for my sling attachment. I heated a 3" nail on my stove top and held it with a pair of pliers and it burnt throught the material like butter.
