After using this unit for a few weeks, (98°F yesterday) I've found it to be quite effective.It really is in a fight too, because it's cooling an open loft room in our log home. The floor area is 20 X 25 feet. Even so, it can maintain 70° F on my wife's the side of the bed. If this was a closed room, there would be ice sickles. It does remove gallons of water so I keep two 2-gallon buckets to catch the condensate.I mentioned the quality of this unit. Well, the quality is so obvious at a glance! Very beautifully built, and the styling is very sleek & modern. The modest cost of around $305 was well worth it.I recommend this unit.

Shinco 12000BTU AC. I bought this AC unit back in July 2022 and it is now July 2026. I have had no problems whatsoever with this AC after four years of seasonal use--approximately three months per year. I strongly suggest anyone buying one of these portable AC units insulate the exhaust hose. This is the weakness in these ACs as the uninsulated hose releases heat back into the room behind the unit, even if you keep the unit close to the exhaust point [almost always a window]. There are insulating hose wraps available online for around $10. These portable units make noise comparable to a typical window-mounted AC and the Shinco is no exception. I am completely happy with all the various functions, including the timer, adjustable fan speeds, adjustable set temperature, etc.

DO NOT BUY THIS. It broke 1.5 yrs after I bought with only light summer use. Light use meaning infrequent use during June, July & August and then the rest of the time it sat unused in the same room I installed it in. During its last week of functioning (June 1st - 4th) it started to shake the whole machine when the condenser would engage which I thought was weird, but it kept blowing out cold air so I didn’t think much about it. It worked ok this morning (June 4th 2026) when I used it for a while and then turned it off as I was leaving for the day to do other things. Upon my return this evening I turned it on and all it did was blow hot air, the condenser refused to engage. Trouble shooting didn’t seem to effect anything so now I just have this $400 fan that I now will need to pay to throw away/recycle as no one will take it otherwise due to the condenser chemicals. So now I’m hot and pissed, great combo when it’s 90 plus degrees inside my house. Save yourself time and money and get something else.

Returned because unit was too loud for my bedroom. Overall, cooled the bedroom well but had to turn down the temperature to almost 69.

Really happy with this purchase. Cools down quickly. I like the wheels to move it away when I don’t need it. I had to cut down the window insert to fit my small window but it was super easy to score/snap to fit. My only complaint is that the plug blocks access to the other outlet. Outlets are not well-placed in old homes so a little bummed because of the only outlet I could commandeer both slots was next to a window I really didn’t want to use. Not an dealbreaker. Overall, would recommend this air conditioner for someone looking to cool a large room.

Consider buying another one considering this unit does such an amazing job. It can be as quiet as it it loud depending on the setting. Very powerful unit. Quick and easy to install, and vent kit that came with was high quality I strongly recommend

So far great! Experiencing my first PNW summer where most apartments do NOT have AC because there did t used to be a need. Thanks to climate chance, we now see days in and above 90°. With big west facing windows, by mid afternoon my 2 bar, 1100 sf apartment was baking. I left TX to escape this kind of weather. This unit cools our large living g room, and fans bring the cool air back to the bedrooms at night. Great price, easy set up. Definitely get a hose wrap because the hose gets super hot and pumps that heat into the air.

It works fine but there is a hose behind the unit and you need to either let it fill inside the unit or let the hose dispense the water from the humidity into a bucket. It doesn’t take long for a good size 2 gallon bucket to fill up. You have to keep bending down to get the bucket and throw the water in your sink, outdoors wherever. I have back issues so this wasn’t good for me because the buckets of water were heavy! I explained this to AMAZON CUSTOMER SERVICE & because it was within the return date they arranged for a Special Pickup ! I didn’t keep the original box the unit came in , they came and picked it up told me date & time for pickup. Returned With No Problem….. That is why people shop on Amazon… their customer service is Excellent!!!!
