Decent. Does the job but it's a bit of a clunker.

Doesn't Work
The item worked for a few chickens and then stopped working. It has something to do with the wiring - I had an electrician look at the item just to check things out. I would like a replacement. Waiting to hear back from the company. Worked great for the first few chickens. Please contact me about a replacement! I have emailed the company & waiting for a response.

Always align white sticker marked "TOP" and the sticker marked "BOTTOM" together or it won't work.
The Chicken Feather Plucker works great if these steps are followed.1 remove heads and feet before placing poultry in plucker.2. use a hose with a spray nozzle with a on and off squeeze handle, and manually spray water into bin while plucker is running.3. Boil poultry at 150 degrees for 25 to 30 seconds, then check by pulling wing feather tip; if it comes out easily poultry is ready to be placed into plucker.4. Replace fingers every three years. We use this machine 3 times per year and run about 30 to 50 chickens each time, with no major problems.5. Be sure to remove feathers by hand from the botttom of bin when they begin to clog machine. It is noteworthy that the bottom of finger plucker plate gets a little rusty, so it's helpful to clean it and maybe remove rust after each session, then apply food safe silicone spray as a rust retardant.Best Investment we've made for meat bird production. Our daughter is allergic to some chemicals used on commercial chickens during processing, so we have to process our own poultry.Be blessed.

First Impressions of the plucker
Finally put the plucking machine to use today and am not impressed. I will keep working with it and try to get it plucking to satisfaction. First the birds got hung up and stopped, hung up. I had to frequently push them back into the spin. The plucker did not want to pull the long wing feathers and I had to do that manually. Then I had to chop off the feet to help the motion. I did one small bird and the machine broke every bone in the carcass. Then the feathers locked up the table and the overload shut it down so I had to clear it. The long feathers jammed up under the table and did not flush. All done I'd say the machine was good for 75% of the plucking and the rest I did the old fashioned way. Clean up was difficult.

Read this to save yourself a LOT of frustration!
It works great, and is well made....but the ONE thing the directions don't mention is that there are two stickers on the unit marked 'top' and 'bottom'. When you put the drum on the base, you MUST align the top and bottom stickers together evenly. If you don't do this, the plucker won't turn on. Wasted quite a bit of time until we figured this out!
