Awesome Clipper!!
After adopting our first doodle, I was excited to welcome a dog into the family. However, no one ever tells you about how matted they get from a young age. After trying all the detangling shampoos and magical brushes, I decided just to have my doodle professionally groomed.Despite this, after paying a hefty sum regularly to have my doodle groomed, I was determined to do it myself. While I’m not a professionally trained groomer, I would call myself proficient with dog clippers after watching countless Youtube videos. Over the years, I’ve tried many other dog clippers that were on the less expensive side. However, they were very loud and overheated too often. When I found these dog clippers on Amazon I decided to give them a shot because they were highly rated. The soft case that comes with the kit isn’t too bulky and fits all of the parts perfectly. For the most part I’ve been nothing but pleased. The clippers themselves are lightweight and require some pressure to activate the on-switch (other brands have a power button right where you hand rests and can be annoying). I thought professional grade clippers would be even louder, but to my surprise these were on the quiet side. I also appreciate the blade adjustment along the underside of the clippers. It enabled me to get a clean, even, and precise cut that I’ve never experienced before. Having doodles means dealing with mats, but I was shocked to see how well these clippers cut through dreads. I recently adopted another doodle who is very skittish and I was eager to test out the clippers on him. While his fur is less curly because he is a sheepadoodle, the clippers still tackled those dreads very well. However, like most clippers, there are some flaws. I was disappointed to discover that these clippers overheat. I always check the temperature of the blades throughout the shaving process, so that my pup doesn’t get razor burn. The Wahl clippers began to warm up after thirty minutes of shaving. Not to mention, I did notice that in the especially dreaded areas they began to heat up faster. Therefore, I would recommend checking the clippers temperature frequently no matter your dog's hair type.Furthermore, while the Wahl clippers were cooling down I found lots of hair stuck in the base of the clippers. I had to really tug at it to finally get the fur off.I appreciate how the Wahl clippers come with two rechargeable batteries, however the charging base always glows red, no matter how long they have been charging. Despite this when I tested the batteries to see if they held the charge, they worked fine. Maybe it's just a design flaw?Overall, these Wahl clippers have proved to be a great investment into my dog's hair care. They cut through hair like butter and hold a nice charge. They aren’t too noisy which can often scare dogs and come with two rechargeable batteries which is a must when tackling multiple shaves in a day. Not everyone has the kind of lifestyle that can afford spending the time and money to shave your pet. But if you can, these clippers are the ones to invest in. While they have some minor flaws, their pros make them worth it.

Took care of my cat's mats
Sophie is a long-hair female cat who is a bit chubby and her fur is on the course side and tends to lump up and mat - especially in areas that she can't get to. Her sister Gracie is also long-hair but her fur is more shiny and lumps are rare.We tried scissors but that's not safe. My Wahl clippers I use on my head are electric, loud and didn't seem to do the job. We didn't want to take her to a groomer or vet because I'm a do-it-yourselfer and wanted to be able to do this when it needed to be done. These are not as loud as my clippers and they are wireless. They cut better and they get skin-close without injury. Doesn't mean the cat likes them. Sophie didn't take to these clippers at first. I'm sure they felt weird and she doesn't like anyone messing with her like this. I was patient and went to her when she was napping doing little at a time until she had enough then I would quit.It was a gradual process and I let her control how long the "grooming session" would last. It has now gotten to where she will lick the hand I use to lightly hold her down. She is grooming me while I groom her. When she's had enough, she struggles , meows and I stop. I now can get her sensitive areas - under her tail and around her peepee without an ordeal. She trusts me. There are guards that come with this clipper but I use them without the guards and just hover at the height I want to go.I don't know how these would hold up in a professional grooming business but for home use, they are great. Cuts easy, quick and safely. Being wireless, they are always ready when the opportunity arises. Saved me money. And yes... we are now being more diligent with brushing her.

A quiet and efficient workhorse.
Amazing clippers. Honestly, I wanted a 3 in 1 clipper that would clip the legs and face of my horse, basic clips on my Australian Shepherd and a full body clip on my Nigerian Dwarf Goat. After reading numerous clipper reviews, this seemed like the affordable all-purpose solution to my problems. I'm on a tight budget, and really needed to shave my goat before she kids. Almost as soon as the box arrived I had it lubed up and ready to go. It was smaller than I expected, but that made it easier to get into the hard-to-reach areas of a mini dairy goat udder. While I didn't do all three animals in a day, I could have. The clippers never ran hot, didn't run out of battery life and cut right through my Nigerian Goat's thick winter coat.It was her first clip, and I was trying to be extra cautious to keep from dropping the clippers, knowing that it would be certain death for the clippers if I did. To my horror, she kicked out (numerous times) and got the clipper head twice. It separated and the razor blade disconnected and fell without issue, leaving the mechanical body of the clipper in my hand, unharmed. I think if it wasn't so easy to pop the blade and clipper head on and off, that would have been the end of them, so bonus points for an easy to clean, easy to take apart clipper - because it happened more than once. I saw on a YouTube video that a groomer had taped the two together, so perhaps this feature causes problems for others and comes off too easily? My horse and dog were also un-fazed by the quiet efficiency of the clipper. I look forward to many years with the Wahl ARCO cordless clipper.
