PCI-E 16X to 16X Adapter Riser Card Extension Cable Molex Power

Why did it kill my motherboard and video card? Because someone soldered the power wires on the wrong pin, which took out both the motherboard and video card. I was secretly hoping for smoke and explosions, sadly I got nothing. They just no longer worked.This is fine for me, because I tested it on an old worthless PC I planned to scrap even though it worked, it was just far too old to keep around anymore.Anyway, the positive wire on mine was soldered on the first and second pins on the right side of the PCIe socket (the side without the bodge capacitor). I googled the pinout for a PCIe socket and it seems that they had soldered the wire one pin too high. It should be on the second and third pins. After breaking out the soldering iron and fixing their mistakes, I got it to work. At least with a junk GT630.Also, to check for shorts across pins, peel the tape off and shine a flashlight from behind the board. There should be light between each pin.If you have a soldering iron and are willing to triple check that the thing is wired correctly, then I would recommend it. If not, just test it on a crappy PC and ask for a refund if it doesn't work. Hope this helps.
