If you measure at a size 16.1417 I would recommend going into the XL size. It is always easier to adjust down to comfort than be left with a brace that is too small to utilize properly. I play soccer does this knee brace let you run/move freely? I need something with this support.

Yes it does. There is no problem from running with it and it provides excellent support for sideways movements of the knee and forward hyperextensions. Because it is a little bulky, you will not be able to bend/fold the leg completely (so that calf would touch the back of the tight). I've used it to play soccer, bball and skiing. Good product.
