Deadly Premonition - It's Great! Right, Zach?
Deadly Premonition was a budget title that was released on the 360 exclusively in 2012. Let's just say it was and still is the most quirky, and one of the most polarizing games of all time, getting a 10/10 from Destructoid, while getting a 2/10 from IGN.It's great though.Story : Funny as hell, memorable characters, and just plain entertaining and spellbinding. Heavy Rain has nothing on this 10/10Sound : Music used in the most inappropriate places is not only intriguing, but hilarious nonetheless. 9/10Graphics : The actual graphics are sub par, there's no beating around the bush. But the visual style is fantastic and isn't a hinder whatsoever because the poor textures actually add to the Twin Peaks/B-Movie style. Framerate sucks though, that's a negative. 8/10Gameplay : Really fun for a budget game, it's open world and it is BLAST to drive around Greenvale listening to Francis York Morgan, ( Just call him York, everyone else does ) talk to his imaginary friend Zach about the history of "Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes" and how the original was 67 minutes, but got restored to 90. I love this game. 9.5/10Overall - 9.5/10, if it wasn't for the inconsistent framerate, this would've been the best game to play at this state. So says Mr. Stewart.

Underrated
Deadly Premonition is a very underrated Investigative Horror game. The visuals are a bit dated where they sit somewhere between PS2 and Wii graphics hitting 720p. Thats really the only gripe, though that adds to some of the elements to the games scenic atmosphere. Has some puzzles and Resident Evil likeness.

Great game!
The first thing that will come to mind is that the game isn't on par graphics wise with most of the triple A titles of today. Secondly, the game play can be a bit repetitive and tedious at times. Lastly, the dialogue can be pretty horrible and the story, simply confusing; yet, it's incredibly fun and quite charming with it's interesting set of characters and engaging tasks. There are hours worth of play time with Deadly Premonition The Director's Cut. Great game! You take on the role of FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan, as you investigate the mysteries surrounding the gruesome murder of a young woman named Anna Graham in small town called Greenvale.Aside from game play that feels like a clash of Resident Evil 4 meets Silent Hill, you'll have the opportunity to travel all over Greenvale in an open-world environment similar to the setting of David Lynch's Twin Peaks.I just wished Amazon had given me a DLC code that was not invalid. Maybe pouring some milk in my morning cup of coffee will give me a DLC code that actually works... You hear that, Zach?

Interesting but very rough
My feelings about this game are very contradicting and although I would play a sequel to it, I'll never play it again. I'm glad I gave it a chance and experienced it for myself but it's one of those games that since I know the ending, I don't really care to go through all of the headache that it took to beat it. I understand it and I know that the director had a specific vision that he wanted to produce but it's flaws turn me away from a future replay.Parts of it, especially the story, are very intriguing and unique. Other parts, like the core gameplay, are equally unique but not as well thought out or composed. I enjoyed the diversity of the characters and the atmosphere of the town but some of the characters were annoying and the graphics killed the potential of the atmosphere. The biggest problem I had with it was the drawn out parts that just kept going although the length never seemed to have a purpose or payoff. In one part I had to follow a dog, then there was a long loading screen, then a short section of another character just looking around a room and talking a bit, then another long loading screen, then back to the dog part, and on and on, back and forth. I believe when the director made his 'director's cut' he should've cut out a lot of the redundant and yawn-inducing, boring parts. I would've came to the same conclusion and understood everything just as well if much of the game was shortened down to about a third.Even though it reminded me of some other games, it's really a mixed bag and in a league of it's own. I didn't mind that it switched genres back and forth from a Resident Evil style survival horror, to a crime thriller, to a semi-open world with random quests and people to talk to. Side quests were, however, an aspect of the game that flattened some of my experience. Some paid off, others did nothing but waste my time. Plus, the 'open-world' side of it would've been better if there was a lot more to do and the locations were actually open more often. Much of the game felt like different teams were given a section to make and only enough budget to start it but not near enough to clean it up and polish it.The music selection was also hit-and-miss yet unique. I would've been able to enjoy it more if it didn't seem so chopped up and randomized. One second the music would sound serious and deep, fitting the situation you were watching. The next second, without any change in conversation or atmosphere, it'd change to some odd, light-hearted sounding clip. One part sounded like a tune you'd expect to hear on the show Wilfred and another sounded like it came straight from an old Peanuts cartoon. I almost expected to see Charlie Brown pop out.The dialogue was similar to the music in the sense that the tone changed almost too randomly. It'd go from serious and realistic to somewhat comedic and not realistic at all. Some may say it's genius. I'd say it's more indecisive and/or schizophrenic writing. I guess it really comes down to intent and whether it was all planned or just the lack of writing control or skill.Overall, this game is definitely not for everyone but some people will enjoy it a lot. From other reviews, I'd say a decent amount of people already enjoy it a lot. 'Cult classic' is right on the mark. As far as I'm concerned, if there ever is a sequel made I just hope that they can spend a bit more time and money on it. If the director is a good story teller but not a good game creator, like it seems, he needs to team up with a group that can fine tune his next project. I'd love to see what that collaboration could produce.

Terrible Game. Don't Waste Your Money.
I like wierd. I like unusual. I like different. I also like good quality - this game doesn't even look or play as well as a PS 1 game. Not sure if the dialog is translated but it is just creepy in a pedophilia kind of way. When the old man tells the little girl he is going to tell her a "strange and nasty story" right at the beginning of the game I probably should have stopped playing right there. But I continued a little further in the game and with the hideous game play and controls - 2010 game? Really? - i just couldn't stand it. Comparing it to Twin Peaks or any other odd genre is only giving it credit where it deserves none. There is zero storyline; even Twin Peaks started with a storyline. This game is a personal affront to the console it was made for. Don't buy it.
