Rhode Island Novelty 49MM Rock Ball

We were looking for unique toys that were not just throw-away junk for a first-grader's birthday party. These fit the bill (along with other unique toys). These are the size of what most people would call a "large" bouncy ball-- if you imagine something about egg-sized but rounded and irregular, that's about right. The assortment of colors (after buying two sets) was great, and good for boys and girls. The balls are hard, but bouncy balls of this size are-- you just aren't used to seeing ones that are shaped like rocks. They bounce unpredictably, much to the delight of the kids, and somewhat to the concern of the parents-- indoor playing near windows is a bad idea, but outdoors on a playground is a blast for everyone, as groups of kids try to chase it. The parents of the kids also thought these were great and unique.

These are truly awful. They are cute and vibrant looking but that is where it ends. I opened the Amazon box and there were fumes radiating. These balls were in a sealed bag and I could still smell an odor that came just in the shipping box. I opened up the bag and the smell was almost like having a can of paint sitting open. I was hoping they would air out, but they did not.... and it was even worse. I picked up 2 to see if they at least worked (they do) and the surface had almost like a non-removable "slimy" layer on it. This slimy feeling was not like other bouncy type balls that I've ever seen. But, just by holding them, MY HAND LITERALLY SMELLED LIKE THE CHEMICAL FUME. I had to wash my hands. It is always hit or miss with these type of "party favors"... whether you will get blasted by chemical odor or if the odor is non-existent or benign. However, I don't think I ever had an odor transferred over to my skin, just by touching the object.The strange thing is that I went back to look at other reviews and nobody mentions the odor. It wasn't just me who was overly sensitive to the smell (I asked for opinions from others). So, there was no way I was going to put this in a birthday party goody bag, as cute as they "look".

If you find yourself in desperate need of 12 balls shaped like rocks it is your lucky day. These are good sized rock shaped balls in various unrocklike colors made of a non chemical smelling polymer (big plus! Nobody likes chemical smelling balls) These bouncing rock balls are solid, but not as hard as rocks, they bounce (actually all over the place in unpredictable ways). Children especially will not know what's coming next which may end with one child laughing and another one crying. This is fun or sad depending which one of these people you are. Needless to say my oldest child loves these balls and one of your kids might too!

They are fun and go well with the construction theme party we are doing. They are heavier and do not have quite the bounce as a traditional bouncy ball. Overall, they work well with our intent for them.

As others has indicated, the balls are definitely 'slimy'

Bought for birthday goody bags--the parents are thrilled I'm sure. Received two of each color. They are heavy. I like them because they are unique.

These are okay. I used them for favors for a rock climbing party. The are cute to look at but functionally not great. They are extremely hard and not really that bouncy. They hurt if they bounce off a weird angle and come flying your way.

Perfect. Just what I needed for party favors. They're a pretty big size too. Happy :).
