My Name Is Tani . . . and I Believe in Miracles: The Amazing True Story of One Boy’s Journey from Refugee to Chess Champion

I really enjoyed reading about this family's journey. It was very eye opening to read about what they went through and the threats from Boko Haram in their homeland of Nigeria, which would have led to certain death. They left everything behind including a successful business, family, and friends to come to America seeing a safe place for their family to live and work. I liked how different portions of the story are told by the father, the mother, and Tani. This gives you the different perspectives of each family member and how they felt at the time. It would be fun to read this book together as a family and talk about the challenges that people in other countries face and what we often take for granted in America.

A inspirational story of perseverance, hard work and love. Tani and his family are to be applauded for what they have accomplished in such a short time in the USA. Since writing the book he has garnered more chess championships.

It is the ongoing experiences of a family supporting their family - especially the youngest who isquite skilled. They've done whatever they could to do well from problems in Nigeria to New York City USA.It tells of all the "miracles" human beings can do for one another.

Absolutely loved this book. Saw Tani in an interview and decided to buy the book. Every one of his family member is so inspirational and I wish nothing but the best for Tani and his family <3
