Umm al-Dunya: Advanced Egyptian Colloquial Arabic (Arabic Edition) Bilingual Edition

Good teaching aid, no doubt, but I cannot open the DVDs - neither on my Mac nor in Windows. Since this is not the first time I have problems with AUC CD's and DVD's, I suspect the fault is not entirely mine. Having twice written to AUC asking for advice, I never received an answer. Not the standard of customer service I expect from AUC.

This book is good, but it is definitely not for meant for beginners.I also doubt the book itself is really useful without a teacher, I personally only use the material on the accompanying dvd's which is superb. Again, it is definitely not meant for beginners. Those who do not know anything about Egyptian Arabic should start with something like Kalaam Gamiil or Kullu Tamam.
