LiveClear Allergen Reducing Dry Cat Food, Chicken, 7 lb

This cat food is amazing!! I am severely allergic to cats, like throat closing up when I’m around too many type allergic. My partner and I really wanted a cat so I was going to get the allergy shots. Then I thought to look into other options, and I found this food. My eyes don’t even get itchy anymore around my cat. I can hug, kiss, and pet her and never even feel an inch of being allergic. This is so worth it, I can’t rave enough about this product. I also have noticed that my kitty has never gotten sick off of it, even after being adopted from the shelter. And she absolutely loves the taste, so much so we use it as training treats for her. 💜

Only digests the most common cat allergen. Thankfully, everyone in my house is only allergic to the common allergen, not the rare allergen (which this food does not protect against). Started my cat on this food, immediately noticed a reduction in our allergy symptoms. When we ran out of this food for a while, our allergies returned so it definetely works. If you are unfortunately allergic to the rare cat allergen, this food might not help as much. But for us it’s 100% effective. And obviously it’s tasty because our cat loves it.

This helped with allergies SO much. You will likely have to take some nasal spray occasionally, and we didn’t find that it was as if there was no cat, but it does make a huge difference. My cat loves the food and hasn’t gotten sick from it the way he does with some others. Worth the cost!

I've had plenty of cats and kittens on Purina Pro Plan Liveclear dry food. I've noticed that the adults and kittens love the kitten food more than the adult but it's also higher in calories and fats so adult cats really shouldn't be eating kitten food for an extended length of time unless your adult female is pregnant and/or nursing or if your veterinarian advises you to do so.Purina has many different dry food options including many different Purina Pro Plan sub-types and many of them are not of the same quality as others. Purina Pro Plan LiveClear is their highest grade dry good available with a veterinarian's prescription. It IS also the most expensive but because it's the only dry food I've ever found that ALL of my cats like, I'm willing to pay a little extra so that I don't have to get numerous different types of food for different cats.The LiveClear's claim to lower your cat's allergens is fairly new. I started seeing it within the last few years or so. Before that, they had the same food but it didn't have that claim. I've been using this food for 8 years and haven't ever had a cat that didn't like it. As far as the lower allergen claim goes, I don't notice a difference. It's hard to tell since my boyfriend has a pollen and grass allergy as well as a cat allergy so I don't know if we'd notice if there was a difference in the amount of allergens released in their saliva and dander.This Particular line of Purina's comes in a variety of flavor options. For the most part I get them the Chicken and Rice but I've also tried the Salmon and they seemed to be just as happy. I DID notice a difference in the size of the round pieces of dry food when comparing the chicken and salmon. The Chicken and Rice Adult dry food has round thicker pieces and the salmon flavor is round and almost flat. The size and weight of the bags are the same but the individual pieces are slightly different. I suppose it's possible that Purina is in the process of changing the size of all of the LiveClear food pieces and one of the bags I got was with their new size and the other bag was with their previous size. Both bags were fresh.If your cat has health problems that cause him/her to need dry food that s geared towards Kidney problems, urinary tract, sensitive stomach, etc. Purina Pro Plan also makes dry food for such health issues and they also have prescription food for specific health issues which you can ask your Veterinarian about.

My cats really love this food and eat it very well. The chicken formula has become another favorite in our home.One of the main reasons I chose LiveClear was its allergen-reducing benefit. From my experience, with consistent use over time, I noticed a noticeable improvement in allergy-related issues around the cats.It’s great to find a food that my cats genuinely enjoy while also offering the LiveClear allergen-reducing benefit. I’ve been very happy with it and will continue buying it.

I don't use the word lightly when I say that, for our family, it has been almost a miracle.That is why I am giving LiveClear four stars. For its allergen-reducing effectiveness, I would give it five stars without hesitation. However, because of my concerns about the formula, I would otherwise give it three stars. Four stars is my compromise between how grateful I am for what this food does and how much I wish the ingredients could be improved.My concern is especially important to me because LiveClear is not just an occasional food for XM. Purina recommends feeding LiveClear every day for optimal allergen-reducing benefit and keeping it as the cat's primary diet. For families with severe cat allergies like ours, that means our cats may need to depend on this food every day for many years — potentially for the rest of their lives.That makes me pay very close attention to what XM is eating. I wish the formula relied less on ingredients such as corn protein meal, wheat flour, and soy protein concentrate. At 494 calories per cup, it is also quite calorie-dense, something I have to pay attention to with XM, who is a small, 100% indoor cat.I understand that LiveClear is formulated as a complete and balanced cat food, and I am not claiming that these ingredients make it unsafe or nutritionally inadequate. My concern is simply that when a cat may need to eat one particular food every day for life, I would like the formula to be as thoughtfully designed for long-term feline nutrition as the remarkable allergen-reducing technology behind it.At the moment, families like ours have very little choice. We depend on LiveClear's allergen-reducing effect so that we can comfortably live with the cat we love. I am enormously grateful to Purina for developing this technology — it has made a real difference in our lives.But I sincerely hope Purina will continue improving the formula and give as much consideration to the long-term nutritional quality of the food as it has to its allergen-reducing effectiveness. If another company someday offered the same allergen-reducing benefit with a formula that addressed these concerns, I would absolutely consider switching.LiveClear has given our family something precious: the ability to keep and love our rescue cat despite our allergies. I just wish I could feel as good about the ingredient list as I do about what the product has done for us.

My sons fiance was very allergic to cats and my son had a cat. He started feeding his kitty this food and within 2 weeks his fiance could be around the cat without having to take antihistamines and decongestant. They're living together now and she's fine. They adopted another kitty and he made her react again. 2 weeks later on this food and she's fine again. The food works.

I've always had severe allergies too cats. This food has allowed me to finally have a cat of my own and I love that I can now! Since starting my cats on this food my allergies have been pretty much non-existent! Every now and then I might get an itchy nose but nothing compared to what it used to be.

My cat has been on this for six months. I have not noticed much of a difference in my allergies.But I’ve noticed that he developed a minor rash in his ear recently, and there was a rash on his leg also recently. I am not sure if it’s from this food or not so I’m still contemplating if I want to keep him on this or go back to his old food which was from Royal canine.

I have 4 cats and my mom and I might be a little allergic. I have several friends who are also very allergic so I thought I would give this a try.The cats love the food (whew!) so that is not an issue at all. The kibble size is very small which is good as 2 cats have very small mouths.It's been several months and I think it's actually helping as I am sneezing less (unless they are right up in my face which they do when they want to snuggle)I also noticed that I have to change my filters on my Air Tok purifiers a lot less frequently too.Hoping this continues but so far it's been great!
