Remnant: From The Ashes - Xbox One

I am late to the party on this one. I have to say, it is a superb game. I was very surprised I overlooked this when it first launched.The one big problem with this game is the first main boss puts you off carrying on. Very badly designed, and I would say a major mistake in terms of game design. If you stick at it though and beat it, you will find a great game here.The game is sort of a cross between Gears of War (without the annoying sticky cover system) Outriders and dare I say it Dark Souls. There is plenty of replayability and some great armour and weapons (loot) to be had. Graphics look really clean, and it runs 60fps on the Xbox Series X.To sum up, yes, some of the bosses are annoying, but I am playing solo and managed to do them all eventually, but past that it really is great. I hope they make another one.

Bought to replace another game I wasn't happy with, - purely my own fault for not checking reviews and other gamer experiences fully but (sigh) there you go. This game on the other hand is one of those rare lucky finds, that suits my play style perfectly. A bit of a challenge while you get used to controls, weapons, baddies and meds etc. (So far the baddies appear to be derived from tree roots) anyway, it's quirky enough to be interesting, the graphics remind me of Fallout 4, there's a story that's intricate but not too mind blowing and secrets and surprises aplenty, (you've got to explore to get the full immersion) in between levelling up and bigger, nastier baddies as you go, but the point is and what I prefer to play like, is it's tough in places BUT - achievable, without too much repetition of a level to move forward, so stimulating, because sometimes it's crash bang wallop and others it's about using tactics and finding stuff that aids your quests. You can also choose to play either M/F and as three differing types of character, so there's plenty of in game choice. Therefore I think it's pretty darn good, slightly off the wall and with a bit of a challenge which suits me as a mature gamer and, I think not so mature gamers will enjoy it as a diversion from the 'big' games we all seem to be waiting for at present too. Definitely worth a punt for everyone in my book.
