Perfect!!
At first when I saw the thin 3m double-sided tape I never thought it would hold the heavy magnet let alone knives as well. It looks great and definitely holds much more weight than you'd think. Also no holes to drill!! Not sure on painted drywall but on our subway tile it is not going to come off at all. Love it.

Works very well!
I've only used the adhesive provided and it's held a whole set of knives and a pair of scissors for over a year. It looks great and has a great magnetic strength.

Nice Looking Knife Holder
I use this in my RV. I had purchased a Gorilla one for my older RV, but wanted a black one that was a slimmer design. I found this & it works well. Not quite as strong of a magnet that I had hoped, but so far nothing has fallen. The heavier knives do slide down a bit when I first attach them.

Would of been a great product
I had a project where I needed strong magnets behind 1/4 inch thick wood for a knife board. Reading the reviews it seemed this would be the perfect magnet for this project. I was expecting to use one bar each for two knife boards. Installing the magnet bars was easy, the adhesion tape worked well enough, and the black color of the bar was perfect for my design. Unfortunately this magnet bar was not strong enough to hold a medium size cutting knife behind 1/4 inch thick wood. I had to adjust my design by using both bars and still had issues holding the knives in place. I removed the actual round magnets from inside of the metal bars and glued all those magnets inside a void in the back of my wood knife board for it to work properly. Bottom line is that these magnet bars are great if placing your knives right on them. Not while being used behind any thickness of wood.

Adhesive is terrible but works great on my fridge
I was very disappointed that this heavy magnet only has three tiny adhesive patches on the back. I washed my wall thoroughly and stuck it up there really well and within an hour it fell off. So I stuck it to the side of my fridge where the magnet comes into play and it stays really great on the side of the fridge or any other metal surface.

The reason why it's so heavy - Reason why it falls after mounting - Reason Why You should not buy
The reason why it's so heavy - Reason why it falls after mounting - Reason Why You should not buy - It's Clay magnets, not rare earth magnets. Rear earth Magnets rock, Clay magnets suck. But I guess the price is right.Lucky for us, the metal bar is easy to get into by removing the cheap end caps. I was able to replace the "want to be" clay magnets with real magnets. Now it's the best knife strip in the world. Here is the scope of what your need. N45 is the strength 3" long x 1/2" wide x 1/4 thick" get a 4 Pack for around 22. Careful not to pinch your fingers between the magnets. Figuring out what magnet polarity is self evident, leaving a couple of the clay magnets between the real magnets. You don't want knives that can slide off... that's dangerous. Good luck

Love it! But installation needs tweaking..
I decided to replace my old crappy knives with a high quality and somewhat ornate set, and after learning that keeping knives in a wooden block serves to dull them over time, a magnetic strip seemed the best way to go both for preservation and aesthetic purposes. My rental kitchen has a subway tile backsplash so drilling was not an option. This item comes with an adhesive solution that involves both tape and epoxy. Word of advice: don’t bother with either! It took some trial and error to discover this.. while it will stay on the wall by itself (I waited the recommended 24 hours before adding any additional weight) the whole apparatus fell down (twice!) after just about 20 mins being put to its intended use. I got nervous it might not work out and I have 2 cats so the danger of them potentially being injured during an unexpected crash in the night was a concern. I decided to try one last time before giving up and so glad I did! My recommendation: get a roll of Gorilla brand double sided bonding tape (it’s about $6) and place a strip that covers the entire length of the magnet, not in little square patches like the way it comes (you’ll want to scrape those off). Viola! Perfect adhesion and holding strong for about 5 months now. Love the way it makes my kitchen look just that much more modern. Bonus: guests think I’m a much more serious chef now too!

The tape isn't durable
The tape is not strong enough for its weight. It dropped down shortly after installation.
