Goose loves his kitty cot; Lily is not a fan
Expensive, but worth it if your cat uses it! One of my cats loves this kitty cot. It is his go-to sleep and hangout spot. He uses it all the time. However, my other cat only goes up there if I lift her onto it, and after I do she jumps down immediately. I'm not sure why one gravitated towards it over the other. But now my boy cat uses it as a retreat when he wants to get away from his sister, since he knows she doesn't like going up there. He uses it as a bed rather than a perch for looking out the window. I never really see him look outside while he's on it. I attached it to our big glass sliding door. There are no issues even though the door is slid opened and closed everyday. My boy doesn't even mind when he's laying on the cot and we slide the door shut or open. It was super easy to assemble; I had it up within 5 minutes of opening the box. I've had no issue with the suction cups coming undone, and the cot holds the weight of both my cats with zero problems. They are 8 lbs and 9 lbs, respectively. I do want to mention that when I first put it up my boy cat would chew on the wires. He stopped after the first coupe days; I think he just needed some time to get used to the bed. It's a well-made high quality cot and I'm never worried that it's going to fall off the window. I would recommend! Although I cannot ensure your cat will use it since only 1 out of 2 of my cats like it. But hey, it's always a gamble buying stuff for your cats because most of the time they'll ignore what you bought them for the box it came in. For me, it was worth it cuz my boy uses it all the time.

HOLDS SECURELY, AND MY KITTY LOVES IT.
Bought this for my Miss Dixie, and she absolutely loves it! At first I thought she was going to reject it. However, after folding up one of her lightweight kitty blankets on it and enticing her up by placing kitty treats on it, she jumped up on it on her own, and gradually accepted it. Now, when the sun comes streaming in through the window, Dixie puts her ears back and sulks if her Kitty Cot isn't up in place, for her to stretch out on so she can soak up the warm rays of the sun. Following the advice of fellow reviewers, I am careful to wipe the window with a paper towel before applying the suction cups - which really do hold very securely. I also swipe off the suction cups themselves; this takes just a few seconds. I tend to be a perfectionist, so it bothered me after the perch was in place, when I would step back and see that it wasn't perfectly lined, or was higher or lower on one end. I solved this by placing 4 very tiny stickers on the window, ones that I cut from a larger one. (Unless really looking, they aren't even noticeable, even when the perch isn't attached.) After measuring from the window sill up to the height that I wanted the base of the perch to be, I placed 2 stickers to line up with the two suction cups on the perch. Then I placed two stickers where the overhead suction cups on the wire should go, to make the perch lay perfectly flat - instead of higher or lower than the attached side. This makes it quicker and easier to attach the perch perfectly straight - for strongest and most reliable suction, as well as the aesthetic appeal of the perch. At $44.95 the perch was a bit more expensive than what I wanted to pay, but it has proved a good investment thus far. It is perfect for our tiny apartment, and so easy to put up, take down, and store out of sight (alongside our living room hutch in the corner). It is also also way more attractive than conventional kitty perches, and goes better with the rest of our decor. (Haven't tried it yet, but I'm thinking the perch would also attach securely to our flat surfaced metal apartment door - should I ever want to place it there.)

Seems sturdy and Kukui loves it!
Admittedly, I’ve only had this item for a day, but my cat likes it so much, I needed to write a quick review. I’ll update later if needed. I looked at a lot of perches like this and this one had the best reviews. Gave it to my girl today as an early Christmas gift, and there’s a lot to praise about it. My cat seemed to know it was for her before I even got it out of the bag. The construction of the device appears super sturdy, from the fabric mesh to the wires to the PVC frame to the suction cups (I had no idea they made suction cups that thick). So far, I haven’t had any reason to believe it won’t reliably hold Kukui’s weight, and she is about 12 pounds. She’s a metal chewer, and while there’s no question she won’t be able to chew through the wire, I worry that her chewing or face rubbing will loosen the pull of a suction cup. I’ll update if something like that happens. Obviously, I won’t be able to close the blinds all the way with this up, but it can be taken down and put back up with relative ease. As mentioned, Kukui loves it and hasn’t been out of it since I put it up. My last note is that those “Rens” sheepskin rugs from Ikea fit perfectly over this thing (right down to the flaps being in the right place to cover the wires), so I’d encourage people to give that a try. Overall, super happy! UPDATE: A little over half a year with this product and no problems with it. Kukui still loves it as much as ever, and it has never fallen, even with her chewing on the metal wires.

The large male cat on the left is 18#, his girlfriend 8#. They love it.
Excellent! And made in USA. And strong. They've since come out with an adjustable model that will work on a window not so wide; I'll buy one of those next. Later edit to review; original review written 15 months ago. I'd like to up my rating from 5 stars to more than 5. The software doesn't allow that, but I do love this product. I also like the fact that its invented and made by a guy in the USA that did the equivalent of making a better paperclip. Wonderful product. So glad to see it survive the many cheap knock off products that have tried to steal its basic idea and cheapen up the materials/workmanship/support. I have 2 big Maine Coons (the largest breed of housecat, with a bit more wild in them than most cats) in one room with the Kitty Cot. They don't have to fight over it; big as they are, they share it. I've seen a cheap knockoff product rated to 20 #.... My larger Maine Coon is 17# now unaltered and skinny but huge with giant claws, teeth, whiskers and ears, compared to most cats. He'll likely be 25-30 # later in life after altering. With the Kitty Cot I don't need to worry about them falling; its solid. One point on that though; do use windex to clean glass and suction cups and let them dry. It'll be solid. So, 15 months later, my large male has slightly frayed one corner of the fabric, tough as it is. I'm surprised. I'm pretty sure most cats claws will now wear this fabric much; its amazingly tough. I wrote to James Howard, inventor and maker of the Kitty Cot. I told him I was happy with his product, but a year later there was a tiny bit of wear in one corner, and I sent a picture. Well I guess I was right; not many cats can hurt that tough fabric; Howard immediately provided a replacement fabric, so now my Kitty cot will look brand new again. I've been a cat person now for over half a century. I will never again be without a Kitty Cot in my favorite room, or two. Or three...... Got lots of windows.... ;-) Mr. James Howard, thank you for making such a fine product, one that cats truly like, use, and treasure. And also for providing first class support. ---- Added: I just added picture #2. It shows the new blue fabric, plus 21# of Maine Coon kitten just 8 months old, yet they weigh 7 & 14 #, respectively. My Kitty Cots (yes, plural) are strong enough for these cats, and still will be when full grown, and massive. Never skip the #1 rule of applying this to a window: Do Not forget to Windex, First. Especially if you have big cats. :-)

A great idea, especially if you don't have a window sill.
My cat, Bug, is 14-15 lbs. all by herself (so I felt that a suction cup good up to 15 lbs. x 4 would work just fine). I live in a basement, so my only real window is my door, and I know she misses having windows (previous apartments had big, sliding glass doors). However when I first installed it, the bottom suction cups gave way... and my cat DID get dumped! I heard it happen from the otehr room, came in and only saw the bed hanging off the door by the top suction cups (which stayed put) and the cat walking away with "dignity. HOWEVER! Later I realized this must be because my friend (who helped me install it because I'm currently disabled due to a work injury) tried to make the bed at a slight sloping down angle to the door (kind of to "cradle" and if she fell, he's fall into the door, not be dumped unceremoniously to the floor). *This* makes the cups slide. The bed NEEDS to be flat and level as that's how it presses the bottom cups against the surface to keep them from slipping. Once I fixed it, it wasn't a problem and it works great and is very solid! At any rate though, we did some tinkering and added two bathroom toilet seat screws that permanently attach the bottom cups to the PVC, something I think may be a good idea to add to future versions of this product. Overall, good product, my first worry was the suction cups flying off and a cat going sprawling (which gave me great giggles and was disapointed when I didn't see any reviews with such stories before I bought it, which is honestly one reason I wanted to try this product out) but when PROPERLY installed, it works great and the cat loves it! I know she missed her "TV" watching the great outdoors.

Great cat perch, can be easily modified if need be.
As we expected,it didn't stick to the textured glass spot we wanted it in, so this is what we did. We put screws in the wall on the sides of the window, to hold the wires, and we made a bracket to hold the bottom by drilling holes into the pipe piece and bending a small piece of metal in there. The cats love it and fight over it, so we are going to buy another one and make it work, in the same no stick window, with a slightly different fix, higher up. FYI, when we initially attached this cat bed to our patio sliders, it stuck just fine. The suction cups were fine, and we had zero safety concerns. The cats just were not more interested in the new bed than the nearby cat tree, so we decided to place the bed in the room the cats happened to be currently favoring. Go figure, they like sitting near the only window they can't see out of. This is a sturdy product, and even if it doesn't suit your initial plan, it's worth modifying. 6/22 Update, since you cannot review the same item twice, despite it excluding items worthy of it. Anyway, we just got our 2nd one. It looks and feels exactly like its predecessor. Awesome product. We will once again install it without using the suction cups, and save them for some other crafty type project. It will not have the bed in it like the photo, but our cats like it without a cat bed in it. It's like a very sturdy flat hammock.

Beloved! - UPDATED
UPDATE: After three years, my two active cats have worn out their original perch. It had an open weave which made the seams vulnerable to pulling out. I've replaced the old one with another large size but then also bought a small size for another window. These new perches are made with a much better material, more solid, and therefore the seams are much stronger. I believe they're going to be able to withstand many years of "love" from my boys. I am amazed how well designed this is and how well it works. The large suction cups create a strong bond with the window. My cats are crazy about this and enjoy watching the birds and squirrels on the neighbor's fire escape. I've got it situated over my window A/C, and my top down/bottom up blind gets pulled down to the front edge of the shelf. It only causes a small gap in the blind's coverage of the window and no loss of privacy. I did have an issue with the seam on the front coming undone. I attribute it mainly to the fact my two barely adult cats are so active and often jump onto the shelf from a distance. I was able to mend it with some stitches of dental floss. I'd maybe deduct half a star for that, but otherwise it's such a cool and beloved product.

Sturdy, moveable, and well loved hammock!
This. Hammock. ROCKS. My cats love being up high and near the window so they’re not afraid to do pretty dumb things (like climbing the flat screen TV). I have two of these, one in the window in my living room and one of my office and it has made a huge difference in their behavior. Instead of doing dumb stuff, they hang out in the hammocks and watch birds and squirrels without climbing things they shouldn’t or (mostly) sitting on my keyboard. Two things to note: It takes a day or two for them to settle. Whenever I’ve moved them to a new window or taken them off to clean, the suction cups have detached and dropped the cat once or twice after I put them back up. Once passed that, they hold SO WELL. Each one can hold a 10 lb cat, a 13 lb cat, and a thin bed all at once without budging. The other thing is that you should probably put a thin cat bed or a blanket or something. The mesh is really nice but I noticed that they prefer the one with something on it over the empty one. Maybe it’s warmer, who knows.
