Meet the Mormons examines the very diverse lives of six devout members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Filmed on location and across the globe, Meet the Mormons takes viewers on a journey into the day-to-day realities of individuals living in the United States, Costa Rica, Nepal, and beyond. From their individual passions to their daily struggles, each story paints a picture as rich and unique as the next while challenging the stereotypes that surround the Mormon faith.

Heartwarming and insightful
Well produced ! A Heart warming and insightful look into LDS church members. It does some windowing into the lives of a few spotlighted members of the church. Of course it casts these examples in a positive light because it was produced by the LDS church in an effort breakdown bias and give interested individuals a feel for who the members are; and really who better to tell the story than those know it. It shows that Mormons across the world are far from stereo typical and even has the honesty to show some of their personal challenges and problems. It does not deal with doctrine other than it becomes clear that the lives of these individuals are grounded in a sincere belief in Jesus Christ and the importance of family relationships. I don't think the LDS church has an agenda on this. All the proceeds from its production are being donated to the Red Cross. They just give the viewer a chance to step into the homes of a few members and observe. I personally would love to have that opportunity with many religions, cultures and people in the world. How better to observe and form of judgement when watching them by "hearth" as they live their lives. I want to see what their countenances radiate and how they treat those closest to them.

Interesting vignettes for its brief 1 hour and 15 mins
A vignette look into the lives of six Mormons. Some are normal people, some have done or do extraordinary things. It doesn't delve much into the theology of Mormons nor their history, neither does it purport to do so (you're just "meeting" the Mormons after all). So if you're looking for a doctrinal look or anything about Proposition 8 or polygamy, you won't find it here.I'm no documentary enthusiast but for an hour and fifteen minutes, this captured my attention and I really found myself enjoying the flick and wanting to to actually get to know the families better. The documentary simply takes a look into the lives of some Mormon families - a bishop, a college football coach, a philanthropic kickboxer, the WWII candy bomber, a Nepalese humanitarian, and a convert living in Salt Lake. The vignettes are brief and enjoyable and just when the movie starts to get slow, the narrator (Jenna Kim Jones from The Daily Show) jumps forward to the next family. If anything watch the last half. The vignettes of Gail Halvorsen (the candy bomber) Bishnu Adhikari (the Nepalese humanitarian) and Dawn Armstrong (the convert) are especially inspiring (if not a tad depressing as you sit there watching and think, "Man, I am doing NOTHING with my life compared to these folks!").

Highly recommend for getting the "straight story" about Mormons!
There's so many "stereotypes" out there about the Mormon faith and so much misinformation. This documentary really "hits it home" as it shows members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ("Mormons") in "reality mode" minus all the fiction and misinformation that has been contrived by those who seem to be intent on bashing this religion and poking fun of those who belong to this faith. You get to see that they are "normal" people like all of us and come from various backgrounds, ethnicities, etc. They share interests, hobbies, etc. with others not of their faith and have their "ups and downs" and challenges like many others. It shows how their faith and religion provide a strength and anchor in their lives and how it has enabled them to grow and improve their lives, despite the "hard knocks" life sometimes deals out to many of us.Watching this brought tears to my eyes and is nothing short of inspiring, whether you are a Mormon or not, or whether you are interested in that faith or not. Either way, you'll walk away from this better informed and certainly uplifted!

About Meeting Mormon People, Not a Detailed Documentary about the LDS Church
I loved this film. It's a look at individual Mormons lives. It isn't a documentary about the LDS church, it's a documentary about LDS people and their lives. These are people from around the world who share one common driving factor. They are all members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The film is not designed to teach the world the doctrine of the LDS church, but to introduce the world to a diverse group of it's members and to show that Mormons are regular people of faith. It is a film with the purpose of uplifting and introducing the general public to some Mormon people and what makes them tick. A lot of people don't know what to think about Mormons, hopefully this documentary can show that we (yes I am a Latter Day Saint) are individuals of differing walks of life who value family, hard work, kindness, and above all faith in God and in His Son Jesus Christ. Those values guide the choices we make and how we live our lives. This documentary is about showing people that.

Nothing monumental, but certainly great for what it is.
It's fascinating that a movie apparently originally intended for a much smaller viewing managed to gain such greater viewership, and for the most part I think it was a good and well-founded decision. This is a bright and energetic documentary that looks clean, flows well, and is full of people who make their segments as interesting as they are (on the downside, this type of documentary is really only as interesting as the people in it, and some were more interesting subjects than others.) The intro was fun, and I enjoyed the insights into a bit of these people's lives. I don't feel it was a world-changing documentary or anything better than pretty good, but it was sharp, well-made, and satisfying to watch even in its par-the-course way.

What an incredibly uplifting film!
I'm an inactive member of the mormon church and I was looking on line to find the meeting times of the Northampton England LDS chapel (never did find them) when I saw an article about this movie being shown in a local cinema so I decided to buy the Blu-Ray. My wife and I watched it for the first time tonight and I was moved to tears by the stories portrayed in it. I found it to be a very uplifting film.
