Q: since these appear to be a suede like texture, i am wondering if they can be polished?

They are not suede-like. They have a smooth leather-like finish. I have not polished mine yet

Generally slip resistant, but not for ice or similar. Linoleum floors wet or dry, they do okay. Sidewalks, streets and variations thereof, these shoes do well. We have waxed hardwood floors...they do well there too.
