Solid Starrett quality. I've got the PEC 12" combination square as well, and I think the PEC is a better value. Regardless, I like this square a lot. It was the first square I bought, and if I only got to have one, this would be it. One nice feature is that there is a key on the blade lock, so that it remains in the correct position to receive the groove in the blade when the blade is removed. Everything would be Starrett satin chrome if I made the rules; it is a pleasant texture to look at.Now that Starrett has outsourced some of their manufacturing, it worries me a little that I couldn't find mention of "made in US" on the tool or box. The quality is still here on this tool, but I'd give five stars if I knew it was all made in the US.

Great to use and accurate

Highly accurate measuring device. Hardened steel feels hefty and locks the blade in solidly. I'm a hobby woodworker, I mostly make furniture. I have used lesser squares for years and spent a lot of time chasing tolerances. Even the ends are square and the first tick mark is accurate as well.A must-have for serious hobbyists and up.

Well made, highly accurate. My husband uses it for wood working but I've also used it for household projects. He told me it would be worth it before we ordered and I'm convinced.

The satin chrome should be a requirement for more tools and toolmakers. The markings and numbers are very readable. The unit I received is very accurate and exactly what I expect from such a great company.

The Square is rusted when I received it, not good.

What's not to love? Totally accurate, reliable, strong. I took my furniture working classes and its the one thing that I use every session.
