Do your homework. Won't pull as much as some filters, but if you have city water already....
I am fortunate that my city water is piped in and already potable. It's clean enough to drink, but there's so much chlorine or similar in it that I can smell it before I drink it. I use my Brio most of the time to filter water I drink in the house, and that does an excellent job of pulling the chlorine and fixing the smell and taste. I tend to use the fridge for the ice maker because I love ice cold beverages. My fridge is a Whirlpool, and even the company recommends Everydrop on their info. The filters direct from Whirlpool are all Everydrop's. I just usually get one that can do a little more.I got the Value to try to be a bit more frugal. It's only $30 compared to the typical $50. We did a test on our water at home, and really the only thing that is even a bit high, and not outside the range really, is just the chlorine so I've been kind of going overkill for years unnecessarily. I mostly do it so I can have the occasional glass out of the door, but really it's about the ice. I love the icemaker and prefer that my ice cubes not smell or taste like chlorine.I don't notice any difference in the Value over the Filter 5 I used to get. The taste is the same to me being that it doesn't taste or smell like chlorine when I installed this. And as far as gallons go, there is no difference. Both handle 200 gallons. The biggest difference is my old 5's say they are NSF certified to reduce 9 contaminants including lead, pesticides and pharmaceuticals while the Value can handle lead and chlorine. Just research because for me this is plenty. I don't sacrifice anything other than a few extra layers that I shouldn't need in my area. The taste is the same, the change rate is the same, and overall I'm really happy with it.

Make sure you double check the size needed!
Unfortunately it is the wrong size for us, we thought it would fit.

Seems fine to me, and much cheaper than the official Whirlpool filters.
Our water, taken straight from the tap, isn't bad. It tastes fine and tests don't reveal any major concerns in terms of pollutants or contaminants. Even so, we prefer to filter our drinking water. It is most convenient to use the water dispenser in our refrigerator, so the filter for that must be changed regularly to ensure purity. This is the first time we have tried an off-brand filter. Now, from what I have read, this "off-brand" filter is actually made by Whirlpool, so, theoretically, it should function exactly the same as the original filters. I don't know about that, but I will say that the water tastes and looks fine.My husband installed the new filter within hours of its arrival, and it only took him about ten minutes...and probably seven of those were spent tugging and swearing at the old filter as he tried to get it out of the base grill, and then we had to flush the system for a couple of minutes after installation. It was pretty simple.Look, I don't know how thoroughly it is filtering our water. But it's made by the same company, installation was quick and easy, and we haven't had any problems with it (knock on wood). If that changes or other new information comes to light, I'll update this review. Based on our experience with it so far, I recommend this filter!

Water tastes great
For a quality filter that provides you with great tasting water, this filter fits the bill. But after getting it, I started seeing articles about having better filters that get rid of impurities such a prescription drugs. It seems that by folks flushing medicines down the toilet or sink, our waters are getting polluted by these drugs and they aren't being completed filtered out by our water districts. Scary stuff if that's true. So for the price point, this filter does a great job. But if you are worried about leftover drug residues, you need to spend twice as much money to get a more sophisticated filter. I think I'll do a little more research on the water conditions we have in my town before I jump the gun on this one. If you need something that just gets rid of chlorine and lead, this will work just fine.

Fits my KitchenAid water and ice machine
I took a chance to see if this fit my model and it did with no issues. It fit perfect and has no leaks. Filter does take the hard taste out of my sink water so it seems to be performing its job. I think there are some other on the market that will filter out more than these filters it for the price and universal fit this should meet many peoples needs.
