Try on scrap till you find proper temperature. No stand for it. **Q: Can this be used on polystyrene baseboards?** A: I really don’t think it’s strong enough. You have to be gentle with this hot knife, even cutting Styrofoam for craft projects. I bent mine a couple of times. I would think cutting polystyrene baseboards, which I think are much denser, would take a stronger hot knife. Since this knife is so cheap it may be worth a try if you’re careful with it. **Q: Where can I get a replacement cutting wand/blade/tip for tis item?** A: Mine broke after about ten uses **Q: Will it cut polyethylene foam?** A: Yes, it's ideal for low density styrofoam cutting, handmade practise, advertising words making. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works like a freaking CHAMP!!!! *by J***P on April 8, 2021* I cut a lot of 1" thick insulation type foam for Mardi Gras projects. this thing rocks!! cuts like butter and is super fast! i'll probably burn it up since I cut so much but I"ve burnt up plenty of them before. Will buy it again when I do!! Super easy to use and the length of the cutting wire is awesome! ### ⭐ It cannot hold up to even minimal usage. *by T***E on October 27, 2023* I got it to "cut" through Styrofoam to insulate a tote for a cat house. It worked like a charm for about an hour, on and off. I was slow and precise. Before I was done it just stopped working. Tried everything, but it was just finished. I would be ashamed to be the designer of such a flimsy and dishonorable tool. It was made in China, that is why I used the word dishonorable. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great! *by A***N on November 3, 2021* Using it to cut styrofoam for house insulation, and cut the time for custom fitting the blocks, in half. On-Off switch makes it easy to shut off for extended periods. Heats up quickly. Do need to practice how fast to go through the pieces, in order to keep the wire hot. Excellent addition to the toolbox! --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/182825046-jhua-hot-knife-foam-cutter-electric-styrofoam-cutting-tool-36w](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/182825046-jhua-hot-knife-foam-cutter-electric-styrofoam-cutting-tool-36w) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-11-01*
