Can I wear it to bed to sleep?

Yes !!!!! it should be on all the time until the doc says it's not to, but NOT in the shower!!! U can use a Philly collar for the shower it is made of foam and can get wet. I am a wound care nurse by the way. Good health.

can i wash my head / hair while wearing this collar?

It would be difficult to wash your hair while wearing the collar. Much of the collar has velcro pads, if they get wet you would have to remove to dry pads. I had 4 vertebrae fused in my neck, after the 1st week I just removed the collar to shower per my surgeon's approval.

Can I return this, if it does not fit correctly?

Not sure. I tried to find an option but I couldn’t see that.

is this for men as well as women?

Yes. I’m 5’9”, 230# and it works nicely.
