Overheated
Although easy to set up, this unit constantly overheated and caused firestick to reboot randomly. I tried three different firestick devices and all three reacted the same. I bought, received and installed a different model and it is working perfectly. Needless to say , I'm returning this item.

Overheating Issues
This item is hit or miss according to the reviews posted on here. Within minutes of plugging my Amazon Firestick into this item, a thermometer symbol appeared across the tv screen indicating the firestick was overheating. I powered everything down and started over. This did not fix the problem. I was able to get everything up and running using the resolution button on the side of this item. But it didn't take long before I lost functions of the firestick remote and the overheat issue. When I plugged firestick directly into the tv by passing this unit everything was normal. I just don't have any audio which is why I purchased this item. I am going to try a soundbar for the audio before I purchase another one of these units. I purchased a different brand of this unit about a year ago before it went bad causing me to order this one.

Resolvable Issues With Picture and Sound
This converter is installed on our oldest LED TV, purchased in 2005, which has an HDMI port. But there were video issues with a Roku device; sometimes horizontal flickering lines and other times a connection error message. With the Roku plugged into this device, and video and audio input through female RCA connectors at the back of the TV, the previous video issues were resolved, but the picture was very dark. However, by increasing the contrast to 100% and increasing the brightness slightly, we obtained an acceptable video image. The other new problem is the TV remote does not control the volume when using headphones. Previously, plugging headphones into the headphone jack would disable the TV speakers, but the headphone volume could still be controlled. This was resolved by attaching a home FM transmitter to the RCA audio outputs at the back of the TV, allowing the audio to be heard with headphones and an MP3 player. Headphones should also work by attaching the audio output to a stereo or even a clock radio, if you have a fancy one with a remote.
