Review: Sleek and clean! - great drumsticks. very sturdy and were perfect for my college percussion class. great grip feel with a smooth finish and look great. they sound clean and crisp on a drum. love these drumsticks, and are perfect for beginners!
Review: Great sticks - The sd1 general rock maple sticks are like they have built in chops. They are light with nice flex and great feel. My new favorite sticks. Update: these sticks are great on the practice pad and work well on the drum kit. The maple wood produces a really sweet pop on rim shots. Unfortunately they also produce a lot of shock on rim shots. After a session on the kit with these my left hand is tingling and twitching which is very unpleasant. I’m using Ahead sticks more on the kit which eliminate virtually all shock. The sd1 sticks are still wonderful on the practice pad though.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: do to sticks come with it**
A: You get two sticks yes....the price is for a pair.

**Q: I play cowbell for Blue Öyster Cult, would these sticks be good for helping me get more cowbell?**
A: The benefit of buying Vic Firth drumsticks are that they are “pitch paired” from the factory which ensures you get an even pitch across your drums as you articulate stroke patterns. The SD1’s in particular are thinner in circumference and articulate much like a pair of jazz/fusion sticks. They have wooden tips that are smaller and ball-shaped. They are well suited to subtle articulations, back beats, ghost strokes etc. Playing a cowbell chews up your sticks quite quickly and hickory will splinter on you. I would recommend a denser, sturdier oak such as ProMark in a 2B weight. These will give you more “cowbell” and last longer against the abuse. Hope that helps.

**Q: Are they longer than the SD2 Boleros?**
A: YES: SD1 16.375", SD2 BOLERO 15.75"

**Q: Are these as thick as the Aaron Spears Signatures or close to 5A's**
A: I don't know about Aaron Spears Signatures, but these are significantly thicker than 5As. They're an great stick for concert and rudimental playing, and I highly recommend that you have at least one pair in your collection.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great sticks
*by N***U on May 31, 2024*

The sd1 general rock maple sticks are like they have built in chops.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ And The Gods Created a Stick.....
*by A***C on February 20, 2017*

I currently play a customized Yamaha DTX electronic kit, with acoustic Saluda cymbals. I need a stick that is light enough to avoid damaging my electric gear, yet tough enough to slam the bell of a heavy, 24" ride hard enough to cut through metal guitars without shattering into toothpicks. The SD1 is the perfect stick to suit these needs. I have big hands, so the larger diameter eases the fatigue on my hands and wrists (recurring bouts of CTS since my freshman year of high school in 1983) making extended gigs much more bearable. The stubby, round tip gives a great ping on the ride, and a smooth feel to shuffling on hats and snare. The diameter where stick meets tip is what first drew me to try these. Through the years, I have snapped enough 2B, 5A, 7B, etc... tips to heat a home through a Wisconsin winter. This gives the tip a much stronger foundation, which for me, translates to a more solid, playable link to whatever I'm striking. In over 10 years of playing these sticks exclusively, I have only broken 1 stick. Not for lack of exposing them to extreme peril on a daily basis, but because they are simply that rugged. I generally replace them when they get a little heavy after a few months of absorbing sweat and oil from my hands. Bottom line: if you need a mix of finesse/strength/durability, these are the sticks you're looking for.
