Unsubstantiated and unprovable claims about gender stereotypes
Some comedy. Should have stuck to that.Wild conjecture about why certain behaviors developed. No references. Inaccurate stereotypes used for supposed behavioral differences between men and women.I read more than half, then chucked it. It's a waste of time.

Outdated and overly generalised
I like the concept and there are some interesting ideas which are clearly presented. However, some of the analogies aren't representative of modern times and some of the stereotypes are cringeworthy. Generalisations such as 'most men can always point North, even if they have no idea where they are.' are clearly unsubstantiated and wrong.

funny and yet very seerious account of how man and woman evolved
This is a hilarious and yet at the same time very serious book about the eternal problem of man and woman. Many book have been written after "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus" on this topic. This books takes the biological / evolutionary approach to the question. It does so with a plethora of data, which is almost always presented in a convincing if at times a bit disorganized manner. But this is not really a "scientific" book, at least not to me. It is a book that uses popular science to explain our daily lives in a couple. Some assertions are well argued: "men don't like criticism" but sometimes the authors stretch their argument "therefore they like to marry virgins"! They are right, however, that men can't find their socks: I have two drawers on my left closet, one for socks and one for underwear. I always opened the wrong one even if I should have had a 50% chance to open the right one. I then labeled the two drawers, and still get it right only maybe half the time. All, or much, of this is explained by biological differences: men have developed as hunters, with long distance vision, sequential tasking, silence. Women have evolved as carer, with short distance vision (more useful in and around the cave), multi-tasking (kids, fire, food, vigilance) and communication (with other women in the cave). I can't swear on the science of all this, but it does ring a bell does it not?

A couples therapist recommended this for us.
My other half and I ended up in therapy a few years ago. We found a wonderful couples therapist who, after meeting with us both, based our counselling on this book. Best thing we ever did as a couple. Every relationship goes through challenging times, if you can get through them it just gets better. We got through that challenge with the help of this book and never really looked back. Plenty of humour mixed with lots of insights into differences between the typical male v typical female (at the time we were extremes of both).

A must read for everyone
So many things I have taken and understood from this book both about myself, my family and friends. It has unlocked a deeper understanding in me.It's a very good read, intellectually stimulating and at times quite comical.

A good read, very informative in a fun way. Worth a purchase.
I am only half way through the book but it has certainly helped my understanding the opposite sex and their sometimes odd and peculiar behaviour!! It is delivered as an easy read, entertaining and explains why men and women are so different and ways in which seemingly impossible gaps can be bridged. From a female reader's point of view, if you are feeling frustrated by your partner's comments, their apparent lack of listening skills, insensitivity and lack of mind reading skills along with their inability to see things before their very eyes, this book will help you understand why!! For a male, you could buy this book and save yourself a lot of long winded, late night conversations, followed by periods of no cooked dinners and the silent treatment and a subsequently hefty retail therapy consolation credit card bill.Enjoy.
