5 stars all around
I'm officially hooked on not only the convenience, but also the flavor. These aren't overly expensive considering the shelf life, portability, convenience, and yummmm factor. #1 Be sure to follow the instructions for the amount of water to use and remove the dessicant pack that comes sealed inside. The various flavored meals all have different quantity of water required. Too much or too little will result in either soggy or not completely hydrated. #2 After I add hot water out of our instant hot tap which is plenty hot enough, I zip the bag, hold it along the zipped edge, then gently swish it back and forth left to right so the dry goods comes in contact with the hot water. #3 I cover the entire bag including the bottom, sitting upright, with several towels to hold the heat inside while it's hydrating. #4 When you open it to stir and check the hydration, it's not unusual for the meal to be fully hydrated by the time you unzip it to stir but be sure you follow the hydration time and don't rush it. The cooler the water, the longer it will take which is why I cover mine while it's hydrating, to keep it warm and prevent it from cooling too quickly. Paid Thai is one of our faves. It's only a tad spicy and it's got great flavor. We've also tried 5 other flavors and they're all good. The one that seems to have the least flavor is the Adobe flavored which doesn't seem salty enough and lacks robustness, but heck, if you're starving after a day of being out and about, it's a perfectly good meal even without all the salt some of the others contain. I'm sensitive to salt and a lot of foods taste too salty to me but not these. If you want more salt, you can always add it but I love that they don't already come too salty. I haven't had to add anything to any of these bags except the one I just mentioned. You have nothing to lose - try one and if you like it, go place another larger order like I did. I have a shelf full of Pad Thai and a couple other flavors we really like. They're great time-savers since I work from home and tend to not want to leave for food. Price seems comparable to a carry out meal at a Thai restaurant. As for how filling they are, there's enough in the package that by the time I'm done eating, I don't feel like I still need to snack. I'm just a tad beyond feeling full, like I should have stopped eating 5 or 10 bites before I reach the end, but I have no issue polishing off the whole bag in one sitting. I'm going to be a long-time customer of this company and I'm really glad to have found them on social media. Never heard of them before I saw an ad for dehydrated meals. It was Brand X compared to this brand and one of the commenters said they tried both Brand X and this brand and said these were much better so that's why I bought them here.

Unmatched, excellent flavor and easy on stomach. But wait for a big sale
Awesome flavor and surprisingly easy on your stomach even with strenuous activity. However, for $12, definitely too much money and I'd rather carry MRE weight or have the hassle of prepping my own stuff. Wait till they go on sale for 50% off then it's worth it for sure for sure. I feel the portion is adequate for a quick meal in the middle of the day. I can't speak to long term storage as I use these for outdoor activities.

Oh. My. Goodness... One of Mountain Houses best!
You can pretty much ignore all the paid vine reviews here. Most of them probably don't eat freeze dried food often or haven't spent years using this brand while camping. It's not bland, it's not soupy, and you don't have to adjust the amount of water you add. It certainly does taste like pad Thai, it just doesn't have fresh crushed peanuts. If you want it to taste exactly like pad Thai, add some chopped peanuts. It's very spicy, the reviewer that said it was bland obviously didn't try it. If you don't like spicy food, this isn't for you. If you like spicy food, you'll love this. Use exactly the amount of water specified in the package, 1 and 1/3 cups. Bring the water to a rolling boil, remove the oxygen absorber, add the water, stir, close the package. Wait about 10 minutes, open the package, stir all the way to the bottom, close the package. Wait about 10 more minutes, open the package, stir, and then enjoy it! It's a trade off between how well you reconstitute it and how hot you want it to be (temperature, not spice). Giving it a full 20 minutes really gets the water absorbed into the noodles and chicken all the way. The longer you can wait, the better it will taste. It tastes somewhere in the middle of pad Thai, chicken with garlic sauce, and chicken chow fun with thinner noodles. It's got to be one of the best mountain house meals that they make. It's so full of spices and garlic... you'll be thinking about when you'll be having another. I'll buy a bunch more of it when prices come back down.

Love this stuff!
I do a lot of backpacking and take around 8 or more backpacking trips a year averaging 3 days up to 7 days, with 9 being my absolute limit. (Iโm a small person and can only carry so much without making a resupply stop). Iโve tried a ton of these different freeze dried meals but this one is my absolute favorite and I will carry a couple each trip for treat nights. The textures, super filling, and the flavor really hits in all the best ways. Honestly, Iโd even make this at home, itโs just that good.

Good & convenient for hiking/camping.
For a camping meal, this is really nice. Itโs lightweight so you can pack a couple of meals , this pouch has two servings, so you can make it up with hot water in the pouch, re-seal it, and share it when itโs ready. So easy to prepare. ๐

Really enjoy Mountain House
Have been trying all of the Mountain house tastes over the past year. Putting together a WTF happened, emergency survival kit. The Pad Thai and the Curry thus far are my favorites. I also love the Sausage Bisquit, the Chicken and dumplings and Breakfast Skillet are personal favorites as well. All the meals thus far are really nice. The Creme Brulee and Chocolate desserts are killer good. You just have make sure you stir well with long handle spoon. I have been using 1/2 pack with a salad as I do not need all the calories at the moment and more than enough. So easy to prepare. It has been a lot of fun taste testing. Mountain house meals. Beats the other brands by far in taste and and a hefty 30 yr shelf life provides some security for me and my family should anything bizarre happen and we needed them. Quality has been consistent, even through the prep food shortages of the lockdowns. These guys don't cut corners. I stuck a load in a food safe bucket with a handful of food safe moisture absorber packets and a gamma lid. I sometimes dig into them for everyday as they really do taste good, just be sure to stir when you add the boiling water and before you seal to hydrate. Sleep better at night knowing that me and family have good tasting food if something bad would unexpectedly happen and we needed it. Thanks MountainHouse.
