The Creativity Challenge: Design, Experiment, Test, Innovate, Build, Create, Inspire, and Unleash Your Genius

As an engineering educator, my main objective is to help my students develop into competent, creative, and fearless problem solvers. The structure of courses and assignments can help develop competence; the environment I create and rapport with students can give them confidence to become fearless; but I have struggled with how I can actively develop creativity.This book is a huge part of helping me figure that out. The 150 ideas in the pages of this book have sparked many ideas for short in-class activities, longer homework assignments, and some challenge ideas to put to my students. Reading it at the start of the summer as I’m preparing for next semester was a good choice as I now have time to develop the ideas this book has sparked into specific activities to integrate into my courses.Of particular value is the variety and the grouping of ideas within different areas of creativity. This is far beyond helping the reader develop artistic creativity but instead focuses on stretching our mind to become more creative in general. Many of the ideas in the book are supported by research but the descriptions do not read like an academic textbook. Instead, the read as the title implies: as challenges. I am excited to put them to use for my own development and that of my students.

Lindo libro para usar la creatividad

As an educator, I contstantly seek new ways to add creativity and critical thinking to my curriculum. This book is a fantastic resource, providing me with numerous ideas that will have a great impact on my students. Currently working on a long list of curriculum connections to all of Tanner's great challenges. Educators... Get. This. Book!

A great book for those that don't like reading books :). It's super simple to pick this up, flip to any page, and find a quick distraction from the mundane.I've done a few challenges now and find it super fun, helpful, and motivating. Great job by the author to find a great balance between fun, education, and creativity.

Bought as a gift, they loved it! I was expecting more detail within the pages, maybe some more color or creativity. But overall, gift was well received.

This could have been written easier so it isn’t confusing for young kids. The writing makes it Difficult enough to throw down.

Brilliant! This book 'sniffs out' the cobwebs preventing the human mind's abilities to think, to do, to become, and to share the original and the articulate genius within all of us. This is more than just another book on creativity. This is a reservoir of what and of how to find and utilize our creative instincts.

To set some context, I'm very interested in creative thinking (as this is a key part of my work) and I've read quite a few creativity books. Unfortunately, this is one of the most disappointing creativity books I’ve read. It consists of a series of creative challenges/activities, however many of these are really basic or unoriginal - for example, 'visit somewhere new' or 'imagine a new use for this object' - that sort of thing. If you've never read anything on creativity perhaps you'd find these activities interesting or fun. However, if you've already read some books in this area, you'll find little new or interesting here. I just can't recommend I'm afraid.

Great challenges, really gets your brain moving

El libro es perfecto para todo aquel que esta estancado en su visión creativa o artística, es muy bueno, creí que era de lectura peeo son actividades que tienes que hacer, es muy bueno. El material es exelente, realice el pedido por error en Amazon pero lo tenia en la wish list para comprarlo un día y al final valió la pena.

Es un libro divertido desde que lo tienes en las manos, el tamaño es compacto, es colorido y el material se siente bien, simplemente hojearlo te da muchas ideas. Todo está bien explicado y de una manera muy cotidiana.
