Does the job; very little sediment; easy to clean. Edit: 6 yrs of daily use and still work'n great!
This is a thin foil material instead of a woven wire screen. It's thin, but it is not flimsy and feels quite sturdy when cleaned.Minimal sediment shows up in the bottom of the coffee pot. What does appear takes a while to settle out and is so fine that a very gentle swirl of the pot picks it up. We grind on the finer side of medium. It's a worthwhile compromise compared to the flavor changing paper filters. The used grounds clean out very easily compared to the cheaper woven mesh style.I've never used the "swiss gold" pinnacle of unobtanium permanent filters. I've no reason to want anything more than this.6-year update: Used daily and still working perfectly. I couldn't imagine throwing away 2000-3000 paper filters in the time we've had it.Needs an occasional vinegar soak on the same schedule as the carafe.

Great filter
The coffee produced with this filter is top notch. Plus, it works well; there is no grounds' silt in the bottom of the potUpdate 2016: This filter has well withstood the test of years of daily use. I have seen no signs of the gold wearing off and there definitely is no metallic taste. About once a week I take a minute to clean it carefully with soap which easily removes any brown residue. By now, I would have replaced a $5 "gold" filter, maybe even twice, so I see this as a good investment.

good filter good coffee
while this coffee filter does make a great cup of coffee it does also require more time to clean unless you don't mind all of the old grounds that may get stuck in the openings... I still like to use it but for me I like to use it more on the weekends when I can take my time to properly clean it after every use... one thing that may turn off some people is the fine grounds that will go through the basket and end up in the coffee... if you don't like them you would probably leave about 1 cup of coffee

Great permanent replacement for goldtone, brass, or paper filters
This is a high quality coffee filter, #4 cone type, that I use with a Cuisinart DC-2900 machine. It fits well and has a handle for easy removal. Cleans up nicely under hot water and build quality seems to be very high. I like gold mesh filters better than "goldtone" brass filters or paper filters because they let the coffee oils through instead of soaking them up or adding unwanted flavors to the coffee. The price is high, but they last a very long time if you take care of them. Not recommended for the dishwasher - hand wash with dish soap and water only - but keep it clean and it will make you delicious coffee for a long time.

It’s not good quality
The gold colored part was dented when I received it.Also it’s lightweight and flimsy compared to my gold filter by Braun.

Thumbs up!
The coffee tastes much better when using this filter. The filter is fine and doesn't let many grounds through.

Like the Kone better for my Moccamaster
I like my Able Brewing Kone Coffee Filter for Chemex Coffee Maker - stainless steel reusable better as it does not let nearly as much sediment/coffee grinds through... some people like that but not me... I've tried knocking the basket in the sink before brewing but it still lets more through than the Kone as I think the Kone has smaller and more precise holes. I'll keep using my Kone and keep this as a back up in case it's ever needed or I'll use this when I feel like something different. As a FYI, this works well in the basket of my Moccamaster KBT 10-Cup Coffee Brewer with Thermal Carafe, Polished Silver.

good replacement for old Swissgold filter
I kept my old Swissgold filter so long it was coming apart. The Frieling/Cilio filter is a good replacement. The coffee is as good as it was with my Swissgold filter.Compared to the Swissgold filter, the Frieling/Cilio filter has a thinner plastic frame and thinner gold-plated mesh also. So it may not be as sturdy or long-lasting as the Swissgold. The Swissgold had a slightly better design, with a little notch in the rim so you could grab the filter out of the brewing cone with ease. This design detail was omitted in the Frieling/Cilio filter. But the Frieling/Cilio filter is well-made for what it is.I looked at many other cone filters before I decided to spend the money on this one. To me it's worth it and I'm pleased with this filter.
