Worked Like a Charm: But, Simply Cleaning Inside of Tilt Switch Might Obviate Need for It
One of our two AZ patio heaters (HLDS01) bought two years ago from Amazon and rarely used would not light. In pilot position, pilot would ignite but, after waiting the required time and turning to full on, pilot would go off (and main burner would not light). Clearly, the safety mechanism that allows the gas to flow to the main burner was not sensing that the pilot was lit. Thought it must be the thermocouple that sits in the pilot flame. Replaced old thermocouple with the one that came with this kit. Problem persisted. So, replaced the "tilt" switch that is also included in this kit. Heater immediately started working like new.On my heater, took a lot of dismantling to get to that switch. But, a screwdriver, common sense, and patience did the trick.Tilt switch is designed to kill gas flow to main burner if the heater tips over. Took the old one apart and found it's an amazingly basic/cheap design: any bit of gunk inside will keep a small ball bearing from depressing the "on" switch that allows gas to flow to main burner. Parts in this kit are identical to what came with the heater (basic/cheap) so I have ordered a second kit to have on hand, expecting failure again in the years ahead. And, when that happens, I will first pull the old tilt switch, disassemble, clean out the insides, and reinstall to see if that fixes the problem.

You wouldn't think that "It works " would be such a great title but after purchasing a Propane Gas Heater from Lowes that was out of the one warranty and the heater had a bad thermo coupler out of the box!I am so very pleased this one worked, I even tested it with my multi meter first and it did not have infinite resistance! YAY!!!!!!!!
