This makes delicious coffee. It takes a little bit of getting used to to develop the right sense of when it is at the end of the vacuum and it’s ready to come off. There is a squeaking that happens near the end of the coffee canister and then a slight release in pressure when you know you’re on the top and it’s finished extracting. I highly recommend removing the top to release pressure before you try to separate the vacuuming component from the thermos on the bottom. I learned this the hard way, but I have hands that can touch heat directly from many years of cooking so even though coffee went everywhere I was fine. Now I know better to make sure to release the vacuum pressure before I remove the vacuum mechanism. You will have to experiment to find the right sized grind. I found it to be somewhere between a finer version French press yet not an espresso grind that works best. I really love the flavor profile this device brings to coffee. There are more subtle notes that the vacuum process produces than any other way. It’s much more similar to a percolator without the glass explosion danger. It’s really very easy to use once you get the hang of it. I really love the fact of its portability and how long it keeps a brew hot in a very well insulated cup. It’s very lightweight so easily can be packed and taken on the go. The cover top snapped into place very tightly. I am hoping that this actually is a little bit easier overtime with use since I find it so tight that it tends to spill. I struggle with it but it may get easier with use over time. When I do the extraction I just leave the cover on top without pressing it into place since I find it too difficult to take off without a tool once pressurized. Perhaps the little brush that comes with it can act like a little screwdriver to pop the lid. I’ll try that. The screw process doing the vacuum can be a little challenging for someone with small hands. I found for myself. I leave it on the counter and then put it on a small kitchen rag so that I can spin it freely without gripping on the counter. It is actually nice that there is a little grippy material on the bottom of the thermos canister part. These are very well-made products, extremely creative designs, and highly functional for the price point especially. Made for true coffee connoisseurs and does not disappoint.

This little coffee maker is impressive. Makes a great cup of coffee and is easy to clean. I use a medium grind coffee and the vacum extraction delivers delicious coffee in a decent amount of time. I don't have any trouble turning the extractor as other reviews mention. The product is made of quality materials, feels solid and takes little room. Perfect for traveling or camping.

It makes a decent cup of coffee but it's kind of a hassle. It even made our daily drink folgers taste better than normal. I took off one star because in my opinion a no spill lid so you can actually sip while driving or hiking should be included. As far as heat retention it did ok for about an hour at room temp, but if was outside and it was cold it wouldn't last long at all. Seems to be a decent solution for a stronger cup of coffee if you don't want to fool with an aeropress or a mini-presso (i have all of these.). I'll make a sleeve for it for the winter months and see how it holds up. All in all I think the price was fair for what I got.

I love travel gadgets and this is one of them. I've made about 9 cups since I received it and all have been equal. The screw on lid keeps it hot and safe from spills and keeps your coffee hot for quite a while. You can get a hand and forearm work out using this, but it's worth it. I find holding the cup and turning the orange ring started causing a sore spot on the side of my index finger. I find holding the ring steady and turning the cup counterclockwise has resolved that issue. Older people or people with soft hands, like office workers, may find this info handy. I do have to stop maybe twice during the process because it gets a little tough to turn. You will know when your getting close to completing the process when you start to hear a squeaking noise from the from plunger gasket in the cup and then when done, the orange turning ring turns easily. At this point gently pull the threaded tube to the side and the seal breaks. Easy cleanup after that. I use this travel cup at work and it's really handy if you have access to hot water. I'm very happy with my purchase.

This coffee press is very cool. I used to have the Stanley travel press/mug but my issue with those types of travel presses are that the coffee still sits in the water and makes it stronger over time. This nifty little guy fixes that issue. I did a test with crappy Folgers coffee and it tasted pretty darn good. I had three other people taste test and they said it was delish. My main use for this was for camping. I didn’t want to get an aero press. This works really well and does the job. Be forewarned this is for a single cup. You could essentially put more water and grounds and redo the pressing process and make more. But you’ll need another thermos to dump it into when you brew. Everything (all the aks, tools) fits inside the mug and the shape of it and size are really handy. If you follow the instructions you should have no major spill issues. With the mugs with built in presses I found if you overfill you’ll burn yourself trying to press the press all the way to the bottom. I haven’t tried these methods yet but you can do a cold brew press with this mug as well and using less water/diff beans can make espresso for a deeper richer potency. I would recommend this for someone who is ok with just one cup, and likes a deep rich flavorful brew of coffee.

Let me just say right off the bat that I don’t drink coffee. However, I really, really enjoy making coffee for my significant other (I still taste test). For the home we have a Chemex, but needed something that would work well for camping (the single pour over baggies and the French press just weren’t working). We don’t need to look any further. This thing is amazing!!! The coffee is consistently delicious and easy to make if you follow the simple steps (which only take tops 2 times to remember). Aside from making a perfectly extracted cup of coffee, keeping said coffee warm on a cold camping morning and being able to grab the cup and go for a hike is just awesome. We looked at the AeroPress, but what sold us was the heat retention of the cup and how compact the entire contraption was, no need for anything additional cups. I have seen a couple of reviews where folks had trouble turning it. This has only happened to me once (and even then my 8 y/o could still turn it) and I think it has to do with the way the pod is situated. Just make sure ALL the bubbles are out before starting the extraction. Don’t hesitate. I promise you won’t be disappointed!!! p.s. For the manufacturer reading this... the only thing that would make this even better than perfect would be a lid that has a sippy opening.

OK a lil back story. I wanted a coffee maker to use in my van. Battery, 12v, something. Everything I looked at either wasn't efficient at all or the battery life stunk. I know with a burner set up I can easily boil my own water so that's easy. But I hate french presses because they almost all leave grounds in your coffee. Then this pops up. First use, I ended up with a blister and it left water in the plastic tube because I was turning the thing to hard and fast. Just give it a lil turn till it tightens and let it stop. Then a lil turn again. It takes a bit of time but the coffee this thing puts out is awesome. I've been using it at work and home regularly as it makes a better cup then anything I've used before. Friends all laughed at me. Till I poured them a cup. Then they asked where I got it. LOL I'll admit, it's a lil pricey. But man this thing just works. So I can't fault the price on something that does such a great job.

So, bought this as my work has moved to hotdesking, and needed a more svelte solution to a mug & cafetiere that I can stick in a rucksack & lug around all day without worrying about smashed glass & ceramics rattling around. For this alone it's 100% fit for purpose. As with anything these days, you expect the hype to be a lot greater than the product, but this one lives up to its promises (apart from the tap on the counter bit, which takes a fair few taps to properly get the air out). Makes a good cup of coffee using the Costa pre ground stuff, although 2 scoops of that is a bit too much for the pod capacity (1.5 scoops is enough though) and gives a decent enough flavour. Note: I'm not much of a coffee snob... unless it's instant, that is. There is a small learning curve to getting the twist speed right, but it's easy to work out when the screw bit has released from the inner chamber - you feel the plunger 'pop' when there's no more suction. If there's water left, just wind the nut back a bit, push the plunger down and go again. With that in mind, I can't see a reason why you can't get the sippy lid and permanently replace the existing lid - it'll work without the lid, but it is required to stop you scalding yourself during the tap on the counter bit (and a vacuum above the coffee pod will only negate its effectiveness, as it's drawing water away from that chamber). Cleaning: dead simple. Most of it just rinses under the tap, apart from the pod, which bangs out into the bin before running it under the tap. I'm guessing that over time coffee grounds will pull through the pods mesh, but there's a Phillips head screw to disassemble it for a deep clean - just make sure to gently realign it with the thread when reassembling as it cuts into the plastic - Spare pods are currently available (albeit maybe a little pricey). Note to manufacturer: spare silicone o-rings for the plunger would be nice, as I can see that eventually wearing out/tearing. Stability: there's a non slip rubber foot on the bottom, but I wouldn't put it next to my laptop without a lid as it's a bit easy to knock over. Sippy lid for the win here! Comfort: the lip of the mug feels identical to a standard builders mug, and the outside is double skinned, so very comfortable to drink from and hold. Storage: genius! It's all self contained, so will fit in a rucksack side pocket alongside a small Tupperware tub of coffee. It'll also fit in an MTB bottle cage, but you'll need to put one of those silicone bracelets around the lip of the mug to take advantage of the cage's retention clip - otherwise it's not quite a snug fit, maybe 0.25 - 0.5mm too narrow. Might fly out on rough terrain if you're bikepacking. As for capacity, it'll make a standard UK builders mug worth to the 1 cup line (with enough room for a splash of milk), or half fill one of those giant sports direct mugs. Does it make tea? Yes. I've just tried a cup of twinings earl grey right now (loose leaf, 2 scoops worth), and it's made a pretty strong brew (strong enough to add ice & lemon to for iced tea). But, if you're buying this just for tea, it's overkill - a diffuser ball is far simpler.

I've used so many travel/camping coffee makers in the past. The Pipamoka works perfectly. Easy to use, easy to clean. And the included cup is 1 less thing I need to worry about bringing.

Very good for travel. Mustn't be in a rush and must enjoy the ritual.
