Q: Is 10lb the max torque? That is not much torque is it?

This tool intended for precision moldings, example instrument cases, that need to seal without distortion; I use for a respirable dust sampling pump where the case is the pump body; too much torque and it leaks. Higher torque tools available are aimed at machined or high stress applications .

Q: Does this come with a case to protect the screwdriver from bumps and etc?

Yes the driver comes in it's own thick container padded and preventing it from freely moving/rattling.
