Humor for the Pre teens
The day i Washed my face in the Toilet is a Cute, funny teen book. My 12 yr old daughter read it for a book report for school. The book has some very funny moments, some real life situations that you can picture yourself in, and some more serious moments. Not sure this would be a great book for elementary school kids, but definitely great for pre-teens/ junior high girls. High school kids may find the book too cheesy or too kid like. The book focuses on a young girl, monica, who wants nothing more than to go to summer science camp. Her mother agrees she can attend the camp- with one catch-- she has to attend her aunts wedding in England, with her brother and sister while staying with her grandmother for a few weeks. Easy enough? Not even a little! She must keep her crazy siblings in check, and even convince her wacky grandmother to leave her home and move into a Nursing Home program. Monica comes across so many obstacles, but no matter how frustrating it gets, she keeps that science camp at the top of her mind and keeps going. Her plan- Just do what needs done to get through it, so that she can go to camp... However, Monicas feelings about her grandmother, aunt, even her siblings starts to change. This story has some wacky fun moments, and will make you LOL a few times. What i like the most about the book, is the author, Brend Kearns, wrote the book using her real life memories and situations-- with a little emphasis of course! I think the story is well written, and has a fun light hearted story line. However, It was not one of my favorites or my daughters. It took a while to get into, and was not the type of book that you just cant put down. But, for a middle school girl, this would be a great read!

Hilarious and Touching Story!
Don't be deterred by the toilet, this story is a great little book! I absolutely LOVED the author's voice, written in the POV of a sarcastic, witty, self-depreciating teen girl with attitude and spunk. I pictured her as the smart teen on the TV show Modern Family.Three siblings are shipped off to England for a family wedding. Mom will follow, but in the meantime, the kids will stay with a dotty, old Auntie Mame style grandma with cats, a huge dog and various friends and neighbors who will leave you chuckling and turning the pages. Toilet was a fun, light, read with a darling story and message about banding together to help someone in need.Kearns did a great job of fleshing out the characters and keeping the pace cracking along. Most enjoyable! Thanks for my weekly laugh.

laugh out loud at the crazy family fun
Family members with different personalities, agendas, and quirks! Who couldn’t relate to that? If you haven’t been at odds with your siblings, then you were an only child. Even then you probably had a few tussles with your cousins, your aunt, etc.Monica is the dependable child. She is obsessed with order and neatness. Her sister the fashion goddess is obsessed with her looks. Her brother the know-it-all is not so much obsessed, as possibly possessed. Mom is counting on Monica to get the three of them to England ahead of her and meet up with the eccentric grandmother. This is a chance to laugh out loud at someone else’s family drama. This book is written so well that you are transported along with the misadventures, cringe at the misfortunes, and want to chase that crazy brother down. This was a delight to read and I would recommend it to everyone of any age.

Every chapter is funny, the characters are quirky
I found this story to be enjoyable and hilarious. Every chapter is funny, the characters are quirky, and everything that happens in this story would make a good movie. However, what makes this book stand out from other humorous books I've read is what I call The Sneak Attack. I'd be reading, smiling as I'm picturing the story play out in my head, when suddenly I'd reach the end of an unexpected gut-busting sentence and have to stop because I was laughing so hard. After composing myself, I'd attempt to resume reading, only to have to stop and continue laughing. Now that's what I consider real comedy.

Wow... just wow..
It was a good book and all, but it had WAY too many 'bad words' if you want a book thats about a teenager that doesn have curses in it, go read th hunger games. Katniss is in the hunger games fighting for her life and doesnt curse once! This book is about a girl with a brother and a sister who go to England to help their grandma move to a retirement home and to go to their aunts wedding. Grandma is sorta mental. Aunt has anger issues.Th girl, Monica, is a bridesmaid and her brother accidentally puts the electricity out in the church. The water comes from a well, whi c h needs electricity, so toilets cant flush and sinks dont work. Monica and her sister have to go to the bathroom, so they decide to go behind some trees. Monica gets rammed by a bull and skids into some mud, ruining her dress, hair, makeup, etc. She need s to clean herself up before the wedding so she goes into the bathroom and uses toilet water (shes a germaphob) to wash her fAce.I did not like this book. Please dont waste you time.

Quick, and amusing read
I love reading youthful fiction. It's most often clean, and funny. This book didn't disappoint and I thoroughly enjoyed it. All the characters are normal and I could picture seeing this as a short film. This would be a great series for tweens and teens and it actually teaches the reader that sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do and not worry about it.
