I'm making my own walking stick since I already have the Tyger shovel. I bought 5 additional extensions since these are heat treated and much stronger than normal aluminum survival walking sticks. Those are more gimmicky than actually useful. So my thoughts are to use the Tyger foam handle with the fire starter and the whistle, along with all the included and additional extensions, the ice pick at the end, and that should make for a very sturdy walking stick with lots of internal storage for fishing line, wicks etc. Then I could carry the shovel head in my backpack just in case. Voila. A fancy, strong, and useful walking stick with the hollow tubes full of all the survival matches you want. If you want more grip, just grind the ice pick to a nice point. Done and done.

Have carried one of these shovels in my go pack for a long time. Live the extentions, gives you more leverage and the blade holds up great.

I purchased two of these extension handles so I can comfortably use the Tyger Shovel while standing up (I'm 5'5"). I even had enough space in the nice carrying case included with my Tyger Shovel to fit a 3rd extension handle. I'm still debating on purchasing the 3rd extension because, I'm not sure if Tyger might release other extensions with additional tools attached (like a fishing spear or hook). I could also see a flat nylon piece that fits multiple attachments that can be curled up and stored inside the tubes of these extensions, then the extension could have a universal fitting to place said attachments and hold them securely. Something to similar to a leatherman multitool, for example. So, here's hoping for that day because I'd definitely like to put something in that extra space I have in the case for +1 extension handle! :D
