Sweet story for gentle weaning
I’ve been exclusively breastfeeding for two years and got this book for gentle weaning. I wanted to start with night time and then move to day weaning. This book is so special. I read it during our final nursing session of the day for a week with my toddler. The book features a conversation between a toddler and the mama about weaning and it shares all of the concerns that a little one may be going through. It empathetically connects to both mama and baby’s emotions about the weaning process. My little one was successfully weaned during the night without any major problem. I’d like to thank it was thanks to this book. For all mamas who want to assure your little one that even when “ milk goes, your love will grow,” get this amazing book! Thank you to the author and artist for this work!

Let’s read the “momma” book
This book is so sweet. It has really helped with weening. It normalizes all the big feelings that come with this change and reassures little ones. I don’t read the story exactly as it’s written. I change the wording a bit to suit us. The illustrations are quite nice. He requests this book often!

Sweet book for a weaning toddler
I didn't love the way the book was written - it was a little abstract for my 18 month old - but the pictures are very cute and I could easily adapt to more descriptive and direct language. It might be better for a 2 year old. Nonetheless, it was helpful to read a few times when we dropped our final 2 nursings and I think it did really help my little one understand the transition. He did request it / select it on his own, not a favorite, but it served it's purpose.

Helpful book
I like this book because it asks questions from the child’s perspective as well as the mothers. It’s like a conversation they are having about nursing ending and what that will be like and I found it helpful for my daughter and myself. My daughter likes the page when the baby is looking into the mothers eyes. She also likes the page where the toddler asks about being scared and needing milk. I think it’s a great book to have for starting the weaning conversation with your child. I bought this one with the book “Loving Comfort” and found that they work well together. My toddler prefers the other book probably because of the pictures being more relatable for a child.

Beautiful book
This is a beautiful little book. Weaning was a hard journey for both me and my daughter. This book helped us talk about it and when she brings it to me i know she’s feeling sad. It really helped us with the transition.

Such a wonderful book.
Wonderful and touching story. I had to read it a few times myself before I shared it with my toddler, because I couldn’t get through it without crying. So beautifully written and lovely illustrations. Weaning is never easy and it’s been a slow and hard process for us, as I initially didn’t plan to wean until she was ready on her own, but hormones and postpartum issues from having my 2 month old have made it necessary. This book has helped soften the blow and explain things in a way a 2 yo can comprehend.

Useful and nice but not great
Purchased to read with my toddler who I am in the process of weaning. I purchased this book and another for this purpose and this is not the favorite. The story doesn’t flow well as it’s written, it goes back and forth between the mother and child’s voice with only context to help determine who’s speaking. I add “baby says” or “mama says” when reading aloud. Also the pictures aren’t as polished as you see in most kids books but really it’s the colors. They’re on the dull/ gray side and my son isn’t excited to read it. I really like the sentiment and how this gives great respect to the child’s perspective on the topic but think this book could use a good rewrite to make it less clunky to read aloud and fresh pictures with bright colors.

I must read for all parents and toddlers about to wean
I really can’t say enough good things about this book. I purchased it several months before we started weaning and made a habit to read it to my daughter every night. As a first time Mom, ending our nursing journey after two years, and three months was bittersweet. This book helped create sweet conversations to help my daughter adjust to the idea that “milk will go but Mommy will stay.” I will definitely be reading this to my babies on the way.

Ce livre est un bon support pour expliquer à son enfant ce que vient après l'arrêt l'allaitement. Il rassure l'enfant. Un beau message d'amour.

Excellent
Great book. Made me cry the first few times we read it. I used it to help teach my daughter that we would be stopping breast feeding. We read the book every day for about two weeks and talked about it. This book made the transition away from breast feeding much easier.
