This kettle is excellent, ergonomically, for seniors.
I ordered the first one of these (we're on our third) many years ago, because the design is such that it's easy for my wife to lift and pour. Plus she loves the canary yellow color. She calls it "Daisy".

This is a proper tea kettle. And the whistle works well.
If you want the whistle on a tea kettle to actually make noise when the water boils then the water level has to be beneath the level of where the spout is attached to the kettle. That means that models of tea kettles that have the spout attached low on the body of the kettle will not whistle if you have “over filled” the kettle. For the whistle to work it has to have the steam blowing thru it…and if the spout is blocked with water the whistle will not work. Duh…I know…seems obvious when you ponder it…but apparently not so obvious to those who design fancy tea kettles. This one has the spout attached up high so you can fill the kettle much of the way up with water. Some kettles you cannot fill more than halfway. Not only do their whistles not work…but boiling water splatters out of the spout. This Chantal kettle has the right design, nice color, good sturdy handle, and a nice big opening to fill it up. The whistle works just perfectly. And you have a decent sized kettle of hot water AND a whistle. Brilliant!

Chantal Tea Kettle
I bought the yellow- it’s the perfect pop of color. Nice size, not too heavy and the whistle lets you know when the water is boiling.

Chantal does not have replacement parts or back this product
Update from my previous review. On the recommendation of their customer service person, I had my handyman look at the kettle. He told me the brass insert in the handle where the screws attach was stripped. I contacted customer service, told her what we found, and asked for a replacement since it was under warranty. They did send me a replacement rather quickly. So, I am updating my previous comments and the number of starts. I should not have needed to go through all of that, but in the end, the company did the right thing, and I love the tea kettle.I purchased this product in July of 2024. I bought it to have on hand for my tea-drinking friends and family. I rarely use it. I probably haven't used it twenty times. My sister was here over the 2024 Thanksgiving holiday, and we found that the screw came out that holds the handle. The handle won't hold the screw. The other side is still holding well. I emailed Chantal to see if I could purchase a replacement lid. Nope, they don't have those, but I could get a new screw at the hardware store. No mention of the warranty. That was all they could offer. The product is beautiful, but it is not useful without the lid. I am mostly disappointed in the response from the company. I will try to fix it, but I should not have to do that.

Exceeded Expectations!
Trying to find a quality tea kettle, at a good price that's also aesthetically pleasing, is like the Jacksonville Jaguars going to the super bowl... Seems impossible. However, after searching articles on the web, reading countless reviews, I think I finally found "the one". I wanted an enamel coated over steel because paint wears off too quickly. So right there is the first thing I love about this kettle. The handle is comfortable to grip and I love that it's only a half handle. Makes taking the lid on and off so much easier. Some reviews say the handle gets hot, and it warns you to use a pot holder when handling. I haven't had to. I only use a pot holder when opening the spout to pour. It heats quickly and the whistle isn't too loud in my opinion. Just loud enough. I've only had this tea kettle a little while so I can't speak to longevity yet, but I will update review later for this. I don't forsee any issues with rust at this point. I think a lot of people have issues with rust because they leave water in the kettle, which you should never do. At the end of the day I rinse my kettle out and let it air dry with the lid off. Then once a week I'll wash it to get rid of any water deposits that may be inside. The color is beautiful. I went with a Caribbean Blue, which matches my kitchen. I also have a electric stove but will be switching to gas soon so I'll also update once I do that as well. Just remember for people who do have gas stoves, you will get some residue on the bottom. That's typical. Just keep wiping it clean and it should last you a long time. With purchase of this kettle, there is hope! Which means maybe there's hope for the Jaguars too ;)
