Picture does not do this beauty justice ~ LOVE IT
This is decidedly THE most beautiful thing I've ever had on my stove ~ Now, to the complaints folks have had in other reviews as well as my personal observations... First of all, no tea kettle has ever claimed it won't rust. Any of them will rust eventually if you leave water in it. The whistle: Nice mellow whistle with a pleasant sound to it. Not the ear piercing shriek of my last kettle that I couldn't possibly miss in a million years. This is the perfect kettle for me but I do have very sensitive ears and anything louder or more shrill would offend me deeply. My last one (same bottom and interior as this one) lasted 10 years before it started to show signs of rust and I abused the crap out of it. I finally threw it out because the handle melted and gave at the bottom (no longer attached to the kettle) ~ it sat closer to the flame than this one does, I'm sure it was my fault as I've always put them on high heat (gas). I want my TEA ~ lol There are instructions as to what to do if rust does start to appear: add 2 Tbsp of baking soda, a little lemon juice and water, then boil. Never use anything abrasive (and since I'm using this water for my tea I personally wouldn't use anything chemical for fear of it leaving residue that would wind up in ME). They do recommend you don't leave water in it but let's be realistic, that's not gonna happen. The finish on this thing is SO gorgeous... And quite by accident it matches the readout on my stove :o) Recommended to use a pot holder but really not necessary. It doesn't get that hot. It pours nicely too. Good balance to it. As for protecting the finish, it's probably best to use a medium flame... It's really beautiful and probably would have issues if the flame lapped over the side, but that's what the instructions tell you to use anyway, medium flame. I've managed to live with that since I bought it and it hasn't killed me yet so I suppose it's a small sacrifice... Love the free shipping with Amazon Prime too ~ got it in 2 days. Ordered a different one by Copco the same day (sentimental reasons ~ see review of Copco Holsteam kettle) and it still hasn't gotten here a week later... That was shipped by an outside source.

Nice looking and loud whistle.
I bought this Thanksgiving and no rust yet. It's a nice tea kettle. It's a nice size. The rust might depend on where you live. In dry climates like west Texas or Wyoming you won't have much problem, but humid places may have trouble with rust on everything. The black on the color may come from propane or gas stoves. I am using it on a glasstop electric cooktop and have had no problems. Even when I put it on the large burner that is too big for it, there is no problem with discoloration. Whistle is very loud so you can hear it from the other room and run to shut it off. If you don't want it to whistle, prop the lid open. But don't lift the whistler or it will boil out water all over the stove. To clean the hard water depost, then every month or two I boil it with about 1/2 cup vinegar to 4 cups water and it will clean all the hard water deposit out from inside.

Pretty good
I bought this because our old kettle had a habit of leaking steam from the lid and spout whenever you poured it, burning both my husband and I, and if you didn't wait a good 30 seconds or longer after it stopped boiling water would bubble and spatter out of the spout in all directions. To top it off, the handle was difficult to use and often so hot (from the various steam leakages) you had to use an oven mit or towel. The thing was a health hazard. This one looks good, holds a decent amount of water for our purposes (two BIG cups of coffee in the mornings) and I have yet to have any steam leak out of the lid or spout. I can hear the water bubbling inside and because of the previous kettle tend to wait for that to stop before I pour, but the spout design on this one does seem to prevent it from spattering out the way it did on the old kettle. The handle is also very easy to use. From a health and safety point of view it's a huge improvement, and I like the color choices too.

Really Nice Tea Pot!
I've been happy with my purchase of this teapot. The cranberry color is beautiful, as many other reviewers have remarked. My teapot whistles loudly, but it isn't a sharp whistle. No worries - you'll still hear it if you're away from the kitchen. One feature I really like is the button on the handle that flips up the whistler on the pour spout! It's a really great feature! One small complaint is that the teapot instructions say to use it on MEDIUM heat. This means that you'll be waiting a little longer for water to boil. I've personally used the teapot on medium-high (I'm too worried I'll ruin the teapot by boiling water at high heat) and haven't had any problems. Nonetheless, it fits the bill of a teapot. It does the job and looks good doing it.

Loud whistle
Great Tea kettle with a good whistle. I like the vibrant green color. Goes well in our festive kitchen. Good handle grip and durable product.

Same quality as the one I received 5 years ago
When it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it. This served me well for years of boiling well-water. Mine started to rust in the seams, so I had to search for another. So happy to find the exact same one! Love the flip up top - no reaching towards the steam! The ball top makes it simple to grab and remove the lid for filling and washing. Nice large size means fewer fill ups needed between tea times. Thumbs up!

It rusts! And it catches fire!
This one is pretty on the outside and is cute on your stove but..... it rusts! You would not think of having to read the instruction sheet for a pot that boils water on your stove. But after mine started to ruse (inside), I looked at the little flyer that came with it and saw that they don't want you to leave water in it between uses because the pot would rust! Hilarious. I wonder if my boat has to stay out of the water too? I would rate this kettle zero but 1 is the lowest available. Save your money and buy a tried and true stainless steel kettle with the copper bottom from Revereware. My mom has one that she has used for 40+ years. Read your manuals and listen to your mother! Update 2012: I came back to see how this crappy product has survived in the reviews. I am amazed. Pictures of the kettle catching on fire. Medium heat is required by manufacturer. Ridiculous. This thing is supposed to do two things. Hold water and let it boil on a stove. Instead it catches fire, handles melt off and it rusts (says so in the manual and mine did). The CPSC is all over Buckey Balls but ignores this product. In my opinion, stay clear of this pot if you value your health and your family's safety. Seriously? Just because it is so cute, you are going to buy it?

Too cute!
I love this tea kettle! It is too cute. The cranberry color is very vibrant and beautiful. I dont make tea that much but ordered this one for aesthetic reasons mostly. It did not disappoint. I updated my kitchen and wanted a tea kettle to just sit on my stove moreso for decoration than anything else. It looks great and matches the other metallic red appliances I have in my kitchen perfectly! In terms of functionality, takes about 2.5 minutes to hear the whistle to let you know the water is boiling. Twice as long as the microwave, but comes down to personal preference. Also, it has a low whistle tone, not the piercing sound you might expect, so dont walk away too far from it or you wont hear the whistle when it blows. Overall, I think it's great and serves the purpose I purchased it for!

Buen producto, pintura baja calidad

Great small kettle
Kettle is just as described, it works well on my gas stove. Very light and the whistle isn’t loud which I love. The product seems well made but I don’t expect it to last years and years.
