Saw PocketFinder on KTLA with "Rich on Tech" a couple of weeks ago. I have an 18-year-old getting ready to drive - scared! Did not see a lot of reviews, but if Rich showcased Pocketfinder on his show, it must be a great product. I was not disappointment! It took ME just 15 minutes to install this into the car. I did not need to pay $100+ for someone to connect two wires. A couple of other products I reviewed had wiring harness that had to be professionally installed.By the time I got back into the house, activated my account, and download the app from Apple…maybe 20 minutes, I saw the car in front of the house. The greatest thing that I liked was how easy the app was to use; Simply Awesome! My wife is now using this and setting up zones knowing our baby is safe while on the road.PocketFinder did not charge me an Activation Fee, some that I looked at wanted $9.95 to $19.95. I am only paying $12.95 for peace of mind. Now I feel comfortable knowing that if my child needs me in Southern California, I am there. I am getting this for all our cars.

********FOLLOW UP TO MY ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW *******Customer service from PocketFinder contacted me after my tirade below. Here are some corrections. I was NOT billed for the months after I reinstated. Evidently, PocketFinder asked for my approval and I did not respond. I thought when I had called them to reinstate in July, we both understood that I wanted re-activation. The customer service representative was sincere and apologized via email and voicemail. The service is $12.95 per month. I am happier than I was, still PocketFinders' website could use some work. I should have been able to see my charges or, lack thereof, under my account.The device is now activated and has been stationary for several days. Be warned, the antenna in the device is not perfectly accurate. If one sets up a zone, it can appear the device moves even though it has not. When setting a geofence, make it as wide as possible so you do not get false alarms. This may apply only to the 2013 device I have. I would imagine parents or dog owners would not be happy if they are attempting to make sure a child or dog does not leave the area.This is not the type of device that requires one to remove it and plug it into a computer to download its history. Like the one used in "Breaking Bad" :-) For that reason it is way more sophisticated than other devices out there. Also (although I can't be certain) the cell tower connectivity is not 2G, this means the device should be usable for several more years until cell companies remove 3G from their service.Having communicated with customer service, I can recommend the device. I get the impression that the consumer arm of Location Based Technologies, which provides services to commercial customers, is attempting to improve communication and customer service.I am paying for the subscription. I found the device very useful at first when connected to a car that was being trailored out of state. Shortly thereafter, I canceled the subscription. I reinstated the subscription months later when I was ready to put a classic car on the road. I wanted to log all driving of the vehicle for mileage purposes.PocketFinder has been terrible and almost nasty when I called to reinstate the device. The attitude was that I owed them money. I paid that money, because even though I had cancelled with them (not contacted my credit card company to cease paying them) evidently, I had violated their policy.Imagine my surprise when I fully expected (since my vehicle was logging fine until then) to see that it had suddenly stopped.Either way, my guess is that PocketFinder is not interested in consumer business, but rather fleet business. My experience with telephone support has been awful. I am a nice guy, I don't yell or cuss out the customer service reps. I just don't understand.

I got these for the whole family. I know my kids are driving safely and I know where they are. It also helps me find my car in the parking lot!!! HAHA! This is a HUGE plus! I have recommended these to everyone I know!

I have installed this GPS tracker on my elderly mother's car for a few weeks now. Although she is in the early stages of dementia, she still insists on driving. This product is awesome! I have been able to check to see when my mother is driving and that she makes it to her destination safely! I am able to see where the car is every 60 seconds! This product has relieved me of my worries.

As a long term customer of PocketFinder, this very dependable unit has never failed me. I can't imagine life now, really, without the peace of mind this product provides. I always know exactly where my family is while they are out on the road...where they gas up, stop to dine, esp when they are out of town. I can see the motel they stop at...almost the exact parking spot they chose. The details of their locating mapping software is magnificent. Reliable hardware and software, low monthly fee, easy to install, and great customer service whenever I need them...which is actually, quite rare due to the dependability factor of the product.Of all the products I've bought in my life, this product is among the top 10 most practical.
