Todd's Seeds Cat Grass Seeds for Indoor Cats, 1lb Non-GMO

UPDATED Oct2022: After 8 bags in 8 years, this is still my go-to grass. Kitties love it, the grass germinates reliably even near the end of a bag open for a year, and a little goes a long way. I've finessed my growing technique (deeper, better quality soil in the container than my earlier pics) and the "old" grass now gets plopped down on bare spots in my yard to act as an annual to enrich those spots. This remains the best & most cost-effective way to grow small amounts of wheatgrass regularly at home. Highly Recommended. Orig review follows. -- An easy-to-grow wheatgrass to sate kitty's desire to nosh on greens. On a first try, it grew vigorously after germinating (no additives needed) despite the weak December sunlight, and has stayed green and upright longer than other brands I've tried (which seem to yellow and flop over much more quickly). Both of my 6-year old kitties like fresh grass, but only one of them will eat it indoors. That one seems to enjoy this wheatgrass as much as any other brand I've tried growing, and since the grass isn't yellowing or wilting, she's staying interested. My only concern? I'd be happier to have the seeds to be certified organic. But Todd's "no chemicals" pledge is a solid step in the right direction. The vendor provides a link for growing instructions, but it's straight-forward. The grass will do better in a deeper dish than I used (pictured) since it has long roots (stretched out, as long as the grass is tall). The shallow dish I used worked because I used a heavier top soil mix rather than a lightweight potting soil. Keep that soil moist (but not saturated, pour off excess water). If kitty's dining spot is poorly lit, make sure to return the dish to a well-lit location so the grass can photosynthesize and not turn yellow and wither. Pictured: 8+ days after germinating. For the amount I used, the one pound bag should let me grow at least 6, maybe 8 batches. It's a good value-- much cheaper than most cat-specific brands I've seen from pet companies. And much less packaging this way, too! Almost all of my (indoor-only) cats have enjoyed a little grass now and again, but escorted visits to the front yard are subject to the whims of weather, season, and lawnmowers (and only if you don't use any lawn chemicals). This is a great alternative for all seasons. Recommended.

I’ve tried plenty brands of cat grass and this is the best I have come across-easily. I have tried the little packets that only have a few seeds, that’s great if you’re planting in a 1” by 1” container. The quantity you get in this bag is awesome and you can plant as many or as little as you want. I have 3 cats and they all love this cat grass. It apparently digests great as my cats would devour all of it if I let them. They eat it, lay on it, smell it, and it increases their curiosity. Easy to grow, it is a FAST grower. I trim it regularly as packaged states. I have one on a table and one on the ground and my dogs just sniff it out, don’t destroy it or anything- #mydogfriendly. Would highly recommend.

Todd’s Seeds Cat Grass is hands-down the best I’ve ever used. From the moment I opened the bag, I could tell the seeds were fresh and high-quality. Best grass for dogs! Germinated within days and grew fast! Our dogs love chewing crab grass in the yard and I feel this is a much better option!

And so do I LOL! Actually, had been buying already grown (and ready to eat) cat grass at a local pet food outlet. It was getting pretty pricey, and the grass would sometimes dry out within a week. To save money and for healthier grass, we purchased these heirloom wheatgrass seeds. A star off for price because with shipping it's overpriced. People, all you get is a plastic bag filled with seeds. Talk about no frills. The good is that seeds germinate easily after soaking in water for a day or so, then plant those suckers in some decent soil. You're on your way within one week. The grass grows really thick and very green. And it seems every morning my lil Pumps has to have her grass fix. Just this a.m. (hardly 7:00) am sound asleep, and all I hear is "claw, claw, CLAW, C L A W !" That's Pumps messing with the window shade to get at the pots of cat grass sitting behind the shade on the window sill. By the way, we call our grass collection "the hedge fund." (The same window shade by the way has a million claw holes in it now courtesy of my brat cat.) So get some because cats DIG grass!

Grows very fast and my dog likes to munch on it. Took 2 days to sprout and 4 days to get this tall.

I got these seeds to grow a small container or 3 for my cat after I noticed him trying to eat my fake plant greenery 🙀 I grabbed some compost dirt from my mom who has a very green thumb....much unlike MY black thumb that manages to kill off everything, gahh! I honestly didn't have much hope for growth in my apartment as there is very little sun that comes through the super tall trees in front of my apartment. I put the dirt in a smaller test container, put a bunch of seeds on the dirt and watered it. I put the pot in my front window that gets a couple short hours of sun in the morning & waited. I checked on it over the next couple days & couldn't believe it! There was grass growing!!! I then used a spray bottle and spray watered the grass and when it was a good height after about a week, I put the pot on the floor and left it for my cat to discover......I wasn't sure he'd even try it after reading reviews of many different products and realizing there's quite a few different grasses cats like or don't like...who knew?! Then I seen it......my cat sniffing, then chewing on the grass! He liked it! He chewed on it throughout the next week or two & only when it started dying off & turning brown did i take it and tossed the dead grass. I now have to order a better suited pot for the cat to chew it up and have them at different growth stages so he'll always have a fresh pot ready to chew! I can say it definitely grows fine in low sunlight places, even in drafty windows in cold weather. I have tried many different plants in my apartment and only one has ever lasted, the rest do not grow and then die. This stuff grew and grew fast (less than a week), but it doesn't last long bc my 18lb cat definitely liked it and chewed on it often....saving my fake, never die greenery, lol! I just recommend having a flat pot that won't tip over & getting a couple of these pots (they even sell pots specifically for growing cat grass for cats to chew) and start them at different times so when one pot is no longer edible, you have another pot already growing & ready to be gobbled!
