Helped me no longer be scrupulous
I read a chunk of this book while on a silent retreat years ago. The words in this book drastically helped me get out of scrupulosity! Thus, I highly recommend it. :)God bless.

Helpful to know that even saints doubted the state of their souls
This book offers some sound spiritual advice for someone suffering from scruples. However, at times, it is not written in as clear a manner as it might be, and someone with scruples requires clarity so as not to obsess over possible misinterpretations of the author's meaning. For example, the chapter on finding and obeying a spiritual director-- absolutely essential for a scrupulous person-- has some tongue in cheek humor that creates needless confusion.Second, the author lumps those with spiritual scruples in with those with OCD (obsessive hand washing, for example.) While there are some similarities, there is only a hypothetical connection between the two, and many people with scruples suffer ONLY from spiritual doubt and worry, with the rest of their lives being normal. Again, a scrupulous person does not need to add to their worry by wondering if they have another disorder as well.It IS helpful to the scrupulous person to know that, in fact, many saints suffered the same trial.

Every Catholic suffering from scruples should read this book
Thanks be to God for this simple, straightforward book for suffering Catholics. The real treasure in this book (which I have not even finished yet, but has already been an enormous help to me) are the quotes from the saints, especially St. Alphonsus Liguori and St. Francis de Sales, which the scrupulous can read and find great consolation in knowing that they suffered as we did here on Earth and now they behold the face of our Heavenly Father for eternity. Additionally, Beattie's writing is simple, straightforward and comforting - a must for the agonizing scrupulous person. Do not hesitate to read this book.

I have received many blessings from this book
I have gotten so many blessings from this book. It is indescribable. I have been in situations where I would normally make a horrible decision even though I think it is good because I think it would benefit my soul, but I just open the book and read a paragraph and then I get tremendously blessed by the author and Saint Alphonsus quotes. Thanks!

Good, helpful book about a painful little known disorder
Good book to understand a subject that is not written about much.

A great help
If you are scrupulous or struggle with any kind of anxiety with a religious element this book may be a great help. Tried and true wisdom from saints who struggled with scrupulosity/anxiety about sin in their own lives. Faithful to the teachings of the Church.

An Informative and Humorous Antidote for Scrupulous Souls
For anyone suffering paranoia, worry, or confusion about sanctity and Catholocism, this book is a wonderful antidote. The text was brief enough to digest quickly, full enough to tie loose ends of the trickiest questions, and light enough in tone to make reading this a pleasure. The only thing I had an issue with was a few grammatical and spelling mistakes. They are minor enough not to confuse with understanding of the text, but still, you'd think the editors would be more careful when proofreading.

Great book!
I highly recommend this book to those people suffering from scruples and to those who are around them. Written in a very accessible language that everybody can understand. Very helpful not only for Catholics who suffer from scruples but also very instructive for any person who takes his or her faith seriously because it clarifies many details about what constitutes mortal sin, when and why. It is a book that can give great peace of mind.
