Size:16oz ABOUT OUR RAW ORGANIC PERUVIAN CACAO (COCOA) NIBS Peru is a little-known hidden gem when it comes to premium Cacao nibs and products, and could be considered the worlds best "boutique" exporter of Cacao. While Côte d'Ivoire in West Africa is the worlds largest exporter of Cacao, Peru's reputation is having the most exotic and best tasting Cacao (Cocoa). In fact, recently Peru-exclusive new strains have been discovered in the country including a white Cacao bean. Peru popularly grows Trinitary, foreign and Creole (Criollo) cacao varieties. The Creole variety (our variety used) is expanding rapidly because of its higher quality and taste resulting from greater fat content. Our Organic Cacao Nibs are grown along a jungle river outside the town of Satipo in Peru. No American distributor, we import our Peruvian product directly ourselves. HISTORY AND USE Theobroma cacao is an evergreen tree native to the deep tropical region of South America. Long before Columbus first set foot on the shores of the New World, the Cacao tree was revered by the Aztecs and Mayans of Central America. Cocoa beans are a good source of calcium, iron, zinc, copper, manganese, and potassium, in addition to vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C, E, and pantothenic acid. Cocoa is remarkably rich in magnesium and is a good source of sulfur. Studies have shown that the antioxidant flavonoids in Cocoa may be beneficial to heart health, and may help maintain healthy cholesterol levels. Cocoa contains several compounds which stimulate the production of dopamine in the body. It also contains potent mood enhancers of its own, which can encourage an overall sense of well-being. Notes on "alcohol" like smell. Two points on this. First, the Cacao plant was actually used to make alcohol by the Ulua people. Second, the scent is an indicator of freshness. The older the nibs, the less they smell and the dryer/whiter they get.

I BOUGHT YOUR NIBS THINKING, " IT COST MORE, IT MUST BE BETTER. " I HAD BOUGHT "ANTHONYS" AND FOUND IT CONTAINEDTOO MUCH DEBREE......HUSKS GOT STUCK IN MY TEETH AND STONES. YOUR NIBS ALSO CONTAIN STONES. SO FAR I HAVE NOTDETECTED ANY HUSKS. IF A STONE CRACKS MY TOOTH, WILL YOU PAY FOR THE CROWN?

Loved it, just ordered again.
The nibs smell great. Earthy with a slight coffee like smell dominated by strong chocolate overtones (not surprising) mingled with the smell of all things fermented. Crunchy but not hard, I eat them on top of fruit and yogurt mixed with nuts seeds and raisins. Makes a great topping. Try with a honey drizzle to give it some sweetness or without to really experience the flavor.

I hope these come back in stock! They are delicious. I put them in my smoothies. Better than other brands I've tried. By far the best tasting!

Excellent cacao nibs for snack
Cacao nibs, I use this one for healthy snacks. I mix it with raisins and peanuts in a bowl, its very good! The raisins help add sweet to where the raw chocolate is bitter. Very healthy for snacks and really good tasting cacao nibs. I see the others say they are not as dry I would agree. I mean, they are dry, but not as dry and white colored as other ones from grocery store. I think maybe they have more natural oil, like how they make coco butter. Anyways, very good cacao nibs! I recommend!

Colombian Tested and Approved!
I live in Colombia and purchased this bag while in the states to try them out. The taste and quality is as fresh as it is in the local market here (Manizales, Caldas). Very impressed.

Really enjoy them as a snack. Plus, they give a nice little kick. I also put them in with ice cream or other concoctions.

Great tasting cocoa nibs
While cocoa nibs are not my favorite snack food since I started having gum/teeth issues, I must say that this particular brand has been the very best tasting one I have ever tried. Very nice company with excellent customer service. I would definitely order again.
