(REVISED) PartyLink? More like Party Pooper, am I right?
NOTE: This review was originally posted for the 3m Partylink Cable, which has aparantly been discontinued. Since the content of this review is also relevant to the current Partylink cable, I have repisted it here.REVISED REVIEW (original below):In light of recent experience I have decided to make an adendum to my review of the PartyLink cable, and also raise its score from 2 to 4.In my original review I'd stated that I'd puchased an Anker Powerline cable that worked flawlessly. Turned out the "flawless" should have been in massive sarcasm quotes. It had the same disconnect problem I'd experienced with the PartyLink cable, only the Powerline lasted about 20 minutes instead of 3.I'd just so happened to be in the market for a GPU upgrade and installed an NVidia RTX 2060 Super, which includes a USB type-c VirtualLink port. I used my Partylink cable with that port directly, without the adapter, and I had no problems whatsoever.I decided to risk getting the 5m PartyLink cable, but this time I wanted to make certain that it worked consistently before I wrote here. Over 2 hours of uninterrupted gameplay later, I was satisfied that it works as advertised. It even keeps my Oculus Quest charged while in use.I recommend the PartyLink cable if (and this is a huge if) you happen to have a USB type-c port on either your motherboard or GPU (they don't recommend using PCIe USB cards). The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the specificity of the setup you need to use it stably.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Spent the past couple of days trying to get my PC to recognize my Quest using this cable. I tried every port, a powered USB 3.0 hub, different USB drivers, to no effect. If this were the Warhammer 40k universe I'd have tried to get a tech priest to pray over the darned thing. What finally worked was doing the OPPOSITE of what the instructions say. Namely, I had to reverse the cable so that the logos on the adapter and the cable were on opposing sides. So fine, right? Why the low rating?Because the cable does work ... for about 3 minutes, then the connection drops and my Oculus Quest freezes. I finally ordered a 10ft Anker Powerline cable and that worked flawlessly. It probably boils down to a faulty adapter. Well, as the saying goes, the more parts something has the more potential ways for it to fail.BTW, I refuse to apologize for the dad joke title.Thank you for your review.

I really wanted to like this cable, and it worked well but for less than a month. Twice.
Upon initially receiving this cable it worked flawlessly, I was able to play through Boneworks and Walking Dead Saints & Sinners among other titles. After about 100 hours of use on the cable, which was less than a month for me, the cable all of a sudden started saying that it was only delivering a USB 2.0 connection on Oculus software. Flipping the cable on both ends temporarily fixed the issue, but it would come back and I'd have to flip both sides of the cable again. Eventually, even this didn't work, and the Link connection would crash immediately in the Oculus Home even if it did say it was making a connection. I got a replacement cable, and it's the same exact story.I was incredibly careful with both cables I received because I know how fragile the connectors especially can be, I've been using an Oculus Rift for over 2 years and went through a few cables from accidental tugs and getting caught on stuff. Neither of these cables were bent, twisted, or had any incidents where they were under any stress. I used Velcro ties and created a small loop even to make sure no tugs on the cable would harm the connector or the port on the headset. When plugging the cable upside-down I would strap the cable to the middle headband and routed it straight down my back, I was trying to make the cable last as long as possible and babied the hell out of it but both of them stopped making a 3.0 Connection within 30 days.If the Quality Control improves and they do some more long-term testing, I may try this cable again in the future, but right now these cables are apparently ticking time bombs with very short fuses. Considering there was no damage to the connectors my only guess is that the wires inside the cable may have fractured somewhere and need more rigid sleeving or to go the route of fiber optic like the official Oculus cable so good flexibility can be maintained. It's really a shame, the cables both worked great, but didn't last nearly as long as I hoped. If I get another in the future I'll be sure to update my review.

I found an issue and now it works
Ok. Gave it one star at first because, well, it just wasnt working. But only after some very real research did I discover the issue. I didn't have the Oculus software installed on my pc.There was never any mention of this app being needed. Well, yes, in hindsight it makes sense but boy, it would be nice to simply have that printed somewhere other than some third tier website I found that suddenly mentioned the app being required for Steam VR.I guess this tech still needs some work. After all, I have to launch the Oculus app and then the Virtual Desktop and THEN Steam VR before i can get a game to load. When it does, its cool but i was expecting a turn key operation. Just click and go.So, for those of you who had issues, make sure you dload the Oculus app for your pc. After that, no worries. This cable is compatible with my Quest. You just gotta do some guesswork and then it works fine.

Cable did not work with Oculus Quest
Was disappointed when the cable didn't work, the Oculus app said to use a USB 3.0 cable when it was plugged in.Made sure all drivers were up to date as well as Oculus app and BiosCable was connected to a USB type C3.1 port on motherboard
