Opies Stem Ginger in Syrup (280g) by Opies_AB

I cut decorations out of this to top a pie with. This stem ginger is so tasty, I could not stop eating pieces of it while I decorated my pie. As an American I had never had stem ginger before, but I will definitely be ordering this again, yum!

I love ginger in all forms--fresh, powdered, crystallized, but this Opies stem ginger in syrup has become a pantry staple. It's made in England and I used to buy it online from the British Food Shop, but now Amazon carries it. In the small jar (150g) you get about 9 round pieces of ginger (about 1") in sugar syrup that has picked up the ginger flavor. I use 1 piece of the ginger, chopped fine, in gingerbread and 2 pieces of it chopped not so fine with some of the syrup in cranberry chutney. I've also used the syrup in a marinade recipe for pork tenderloin.

Received an unsealed already opened jar that was leaking inside the bubble wrap. Due to safety reasons I am not allowed to return it. However do to safety reasons for myself I am not able to use it. So basically I bought a jar of ginger that I know have to throw away.

I used it for old fashioned Dutch butter cake.

Item was broken. Can’t seem to report or replace any other way.
